When I try to install MT 882 modem for USB connection I always get reboot instruction the modem never get installed why my operating system is Windows XP professional

Does the product box/or disc say that it is compatible with your XP op system? If it does,

Please try a 'clean' install.

Please check your list of programs in the control panel (install/uninstall) and if anything has installed, please uninstall it.

Turn off all running programs, including the internet and your virus control.

Reinstall the software.

After the installation is complete, restart your computer and be sure your virus control has restarted.

If this does not work/or the software you received with the modem does not list Windows XP, please go to this site
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/productFamily.do?method=index&directoryId=2183&treeId=183

Choose which of the two 882 modems you have and click on it to take you to a page that will list the specific downloads available for this modem.

You may find a driver for Windows XP there is you do not have the compatible software.

If so, download it and save it to your desktop, and do a clean install by following the above procedures and clicking on the new driver.

Good luck to you and please rate this solution. Thank You.

Hi, Installing Creative DI5655 Internal Card Modem on XP I try using the modem for sending/receiving faxes with WinFax PRO 8.0 When looking for the modem through the Control Panel, the modem is...

Hi Roni,

Let's try doing it the easy way first.

  1. Go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL-PANEL, SYSTEM, DEVICE MANAGER.
  2. Go to the icon that reads network, expand it by hitting the + symbol.
  3. Locate your modem, right-click the icon and choose UNINSTALL.
  4. Hit the "F5" key. It should redetect the modem and install the drivers again by default. If it doesn't you can check the top menu inside the Device Manger for "Scan for new hardware". If you can't find it, just reboot the computer and Windows will detect the modem and reinstall the driver.
It should move the Com back to 1 or 2.

Let me know if it doesn't.

We bought the AT&T Motorola DSL Modem today, and we're trying to connect to wireless on a laptop and the connection isn't showing up. How do we fix this ?

  1. Ensure that your AT&T DSL self-installation kit is complete. At minimum, it should contain a DSL modem, an AC adapter, an Ethernet cable, a telephone cable, several telephone filters and an installation CD.
  2. Install the telephone filters on each telephone jack that you have a phone plugged into. Install a dual phone adapter on the jack closest to your computer if you have an answering or fax machine, telephone or analog modem in the same room. Then plug your telephone equipment into the filters. Connect the telephone cable that was provided with your installation kit into an unfiltered telephone jack.
  3. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the installation program does not start automatically, click Start > Run > and browse to the CD-ROM drive directory to find the installation file.
  4. Connect the telephone cable that is attached to the unfiltered wall jack to the back of the DSL modem. Connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the modem and to the Ethernet network interface card port on the back of your computer. Connect the AC adapter to the back of the modem and plug it into an electrical outlet. Power the modem on.
  5. Check the modem lights. There should be at least two lights lit. These will have labels such as "Power" and "Ethernet." However, these labels may differ depending on the model of modem you received in your installation kit.
  6. Complete the software installation. Enter your chosen username and password when prompted. Check your modem to see if the light labeled "DSL" or "Internet" is lit. Open a web browser window to see if your DSL service has been successfully installed.

Daughter gave me her computer. she had broadband, I have dial-up, can't get on-line.... no modem????

Hi

A lot of computers these days are supplied with no modem due to the popularity of Broadband.

To check if you have a modem on that computer do the following

Right click on "My Computer". Click "Properties". Select the "Hardware" Tab on the top. Then click "Device Manager". Go down the list until you see "Modems" and click the plus sign to expand it. If you see anything listed here you have a telephone modem installed.

If you want to stay on dial up and there is no modem in the list the only thing you can do is have one installed to the computer. However I cannot recommend this course of action. Dial up is a completely outdated and extremely expensive way of using the internet as you are charged each time the modem connects (like a telephone call). Even if you have a bundle of modem minutes from your provider it is still expensive and slow!!

Contact your provider and see if you can get Broadband in your area. You will not regret it - I guarantee you!

Thanks for using FixYa and please do rate my answer.
