Which operating system ?
Encryption is a method of preventing unauthorized access to computer files.
When you apply encryption to a file, the file is altered so that it cannot be read by others, unless you have given them an encryption key.

Windows XP supports encryption through EFS, the Encrypting File System.
If you have encrypted a file on your Windows XP computer, but no longer want or need the file to be encrypted, you can remove file encryption by changing the file's properties in Windows Explorer. Locate the file from which you want to remove encryption in Windows Explorer.
Right-click on the file, then click the "Properties" link in the context-menu.

This opens a Properties window.
Click the "Advanced" button in the attributes section of the Properties window.

This opens the Advanced Attributes window.
Click to uncheck the box next to "Encrypt contents to secure data" in the Advanced Attributes window.

Click the "OK" button to close the Advanced Attributes window.
Click the "Apply" button in the Properties window, then click the "OK" button.

This closes the window and completes the encryption removal process.
Open Encrypted Files

Windows XP supports file encryption through EFS, the Encrypting File System.
You can encrypt files with EFS so that only you and designated users can open them.

You open files that you encrypted just as you would any other files.
However, you cannot open files that another user encrypted with EFS, and other users cannot open files that you encrypted, unless the user trying to open the file has been added to the list of authorized users for that file.

You can authorize users to open encrypted files using the Windows XP EFS management tools.
Click the "Start" button, then click the "My Computer" icon on the Start menu.

This opens the My Computer window. Navigate to the encrypted file for which you want add an authorized user.

Right click the encrypted file, then click the "Properties" link in the context menu. This opens the Properties window.

Click the "Advanced" button in the Properties window.
This opens the Advanced Attributes window.

Click the "Details" button in the Advanced Attributes window.
This opens the Encryption Details window.

Click the "Add" button in the Encryption Details window.
This opens the "Select User" dialog box.

Click the user you want authorize to open the encrypted file, then click the "OK" button.
This closes the dialog box.

Click the "OK" buttons in the Encryption Details and Advanced Attributes windows to close them. Click the "Apply" button in the Properties window, then click the "OK" button to close the window and complete the process.

Sorry but this is the only to reset the password

Press the Reset Button for approximately 10 seconds

Resetting the Router will erase all of your settings (WEP Encryption, Wireless and LAN settings, etc.) and replace them with the factory defaults.

Heyy guys just wanting to hook my DS lite to the wifi but i need to add it to the network with the mac adress and whats a wep key

> WEP

Wired Equivalent Protocol is a method of encrypting "over-the-airwaves" transmission of data from one wireless device (your DS-LITE) to another wireless device (your router).

You need to connect a computer to the router, and then configure the "wireless networking" part of your router:
* set an SSID (the name of your network)
* set an encryption level (use 'WPA', not 'WEP')
* set a password

Enter the SSID and the password onto your DS-LITE, to make the wireless connection.

I have tried and tried and cannot connect to the internet on my dell axim x51. Any solutions?

This depends entirely on how you are connecting to the internet.

If you are using wireless in your house, make sure its not protected with WPA encryption, change the wireless encryption to WEP if you are using encryption. - for wireless wlan you would need a add-on Wireless adapter. if you are using bluetooth, then the settings on the computer - internet connection sharing is probably not turned on.

I can't go into detail now since this is complex and I don't have much information to work from.

this device is not easy or simple to get connected to the internet without connecting it to your computer with a data cable. with a data cable it should work instantly, if not then some settings might need to be changed.

Changing password making the network secured

Access the Linksys configuration page as described in your instructions.
Select WPA or WPA2 as the wireless security encryption
Select PSK or TKIP and enter a network key (a.k.a. Password) to secure the connection.
The devices you connect to the Linksys must support the encryption you select.
Older devices might force you to use older encryption like WEP but be aware that WEP has been hacked since 2007 so it really isn't very secure anymore.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

How do I ecrypt my internet connection

Encryption (WEP) is enabled/configured on the wireless router (access point) for the wireless network. If this is your home network, then you need to be the one to set-up the encryption on the router first, then you 'join' the encrypted network using 'keys' you created during the configuration on the router. If this appears to be written in 'gerneral' terms, it is true because each router manufacture does it a bit differently.

If you are joining a 'public' WIFI connection that does not have security, you will not be able to encrypt it since the router is providing an 'open' non-secure access.

Location that present secure encrypted access will provide you with the 'key' to access the network, which you add to the set-up configuration of your adapter via the driver properties of your operating system

I'm trying to add a computer to my wireless network

You need to set up the wireless settings for your router, you can usually access it buy navigating your web browser to 192.168.0.1. If it asks for a username and password and you haven't set one, then type admin for the username and leave the password blank.

Below is the link for the quick install guide, page 4 starts to show you how to access the settings:

CWA-854 as repeater

I couldn't manage to get the CWA-854 to work in repeater mode with WEP encryption enabled, but it is possible to use MAC Access Control even in repeater mode. Just put the CWA-854 in Access Point (AP) mode, add the MAC addresses you wish to allow in the Access Control tab and selecting Allow Listed from the pull-down menu, and then go back to the repeater configuration you posted. In this way, you may not have encryption, but you can still block others from connecting to your wireless network.
