Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Bosch SHE56C05UC dishwasher. My Bosch ON/OFF switch is very difficult to depress. I have to push it so hard I know I will eventually break it. I removed the control panel and tried to clean it but to no avail. I want to find out how to fix it. If I have to buy a new control panel just don't tell me and don't charge me. Fair enough?

I believe you can get the on/off switch separately for this model.
Appears to be moderately priced. Hope this helps.

This model has a problem where the handle must be depressed fully upwards to allow the latch to clear completely without straining the mechanism. The lip on which you pull open the door gives the operator a better handhold to force it open even when the mechanism is not fully depressed. Do this enough times, and the plastic tabs on the handle begin to fatigue and eventually break. The handle becomes lodged but can be forced down to eventually open the washer. By this time, a specific portion of the latch that depresses a micro-switch will most likely be broken, and the washer won't turn off if the door becomes ajar. Remove the torque screws along the inside perimeter of the door and you can spread the face panel open to access the latch unit for replacement.

SHE56C05UC - full of dirty water at end of cycle - filters and drain system seem not to be blocked

I would still try cleaning out the drain line behind the dishwasher, this is a very common problem with draining. If not that then might need a valve or if you have a new garbage disposal you need to punch out a peice of the plastic or it wont drain. Hope this helped, good luck

BOSCH DISHWASHER Flooding

Removing the water level sensor it is not a difficult operation, it is held with one bolt at the base of the floater arm.

The problem is that you cannot be sure that the floater is not working unless you find out that the floater is filled with water or stuck.

There is an electronic test to verify if water level switch activated by the floating sensor is working. Instructions here: Bosch dishwasher helps.

You can find replacement water level switch , and schematics on websites below:

We have just reversed the doors on our Bosch Fridge Freezer. The posts were very difficult to unscrew but was eventually possible using 2 mole grips. It is definitely a screw fitting. Good Luck.

Bosch Dishwasher on/off

It could be the switch. If the black plastic On/Off button comes all the back up into cutout in the top of the door, you must remove the front of the door (10 little screws; two shims will probably fall out; good luck figuring out how they go back) and then the plastic top (4 little screws) that contains the On/Off and the wash mode buttons. Now you've exposed the real on/off switch, which has a reddish/brown stem (at least on my unit). Test the switch; if the DW doesn't stay on when you depress it, you need a new switch. If it stays on, then goes off when you depress it again, the switch is likely good and maybe you have a problem with the black plastic cover button.

Bosch dishwasher digital readout

It sound that the problem is cause the water level switch. The switch level is a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. I am not familiar with this specific machine, but if you will open the rear panel you will find it easily. Clear tube first from any obstruction, In case it doesn't help, disconnect the wires from the unit (you should disconnect first machine's power cable !!!!!) and measure with a multi-meter on its tugs for continuity and disconnection while you are inhale and blow to its tube. In case it doesn't react, you should replace it. Good luck !
