I have an acer extensa 4630z. i cannot turn on the wireless capability. is there any alternative way on how to turn it on except for its switch. the switch doesn't work anymore. thanks.

Try this.
Go to Bios when the laptop boots (hit F2 or F8 at the startup ), and see for Wireless menu, you can modify two important settings. Make sure the wi-fi and bluetooth (if you want) are both Enabled. Then a few entries down there is a "Wireless Switch" category. Change this setting to "None." Then, go to the "Wi-Fi Catcher" category, and change that to "Off."
This will cause the laptop to completely ignore the hardware switch on the side, and force the card to stay on at all times. Now it doesn't matter if your switch is broken.
Meanwhile, if you never NEED to turn off your wireless card, you can just right click on it and disable it from within your network adapter settings.

Wireless not working or even visible

Did you update the drives for the wireless card from vista to windows 7. If not go the manufactures web site and download the new drives for your laptop.
Hope this helps

right click on my computer left click on properties choose device manager scroll down to your mini wireless card and see if it has a red or yellow mark on it.If it does click on it and look for the remove device flag choose that and let the operating system re-install the device. Before you do this check to see if the card is disabled if so enable it

My wireless assistant has stopped working and the light stays orange

I had the exact same problem...and the wireless adapter was not visible under device manager. The light stayed orange with the switch in either the on or off position. I did all the whole driver update thing and eventually replaced the wireless adapter but no change. Finally I went into the BIOS (F10 on startup) and reset the bios configuration to the default settings EXIT>LOAD SETUP DEFAULTS). It has worked perfectly ever since.

Wireless doesn't work on f700

The internal network adaptor may be fragile, and not secured properly. However, I would not suggest you try to secure it as it may break.

So, just make sure your wireless LAN device driver is properly installed. TO check, right click my computer, properties, then "hardware" tab, then device manager. There, check for your driver under "Network Adaptors" and see if it is properly installed.

If it is not, you can re-install it from the company's support& download site.

If it is installed, go to a more experienced techician to securely fasten the internal network adaptor in place.
