I found the problem, I believe. Check out page 80 of the user
manual. I formatted the unit and ever after it would not play mp3s,
even those I had previously used successfully. It no longer plays mp3s
after formatting. I have heard that the limitation is on mp3’s at lower
bitrates than 128k. Mine are all lectures at 56kbps. My solution is to
recode my lectures from 56k mp3 to 64k WMA and it works. I understand
that you can also recode to 128k mp3 but in my case this would make the
files much larger.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: deleted files
Audio files are songs. I hope you don't mean system files. If you deleted system files or folders, go to RCA's website and get the firmware upgrade - hopefully it will add those files back.

The problem is with the codec that is require to play sound. You can resolve this by playing your DVD in another player like VLC media player or you will have to install the latest codec pack which supports major Audio and Video formats.

What is the error you get? You might need codecs to play the movies.
try downloading dvix, which is free and that might solve your problem
