Question about NEC NP400 Projector

Open Question

Hi there, I have an NEC NP400 projector. My issue is that when I turn the projector on, a blue screen (which is meant to appear) comes up momentarily only for the projector to then blink in the 6 cycles on the status light. I am aware that this indicates a problem with the lamp firing? I put a different bulb in the projector today, and the projector worked perfectly. I put the old bulb back in, it lights up and then switches off - what does this mean, and how can I fix it? I do not want to go and buy a new bulb if it is not necessary. Many thanks, Katie

Pls Service the LCD Panels of the Projector, Also check the Fly-Eye lens, just next to Lamp unit. This will solve your problem. if it's not then the only solution is Replacement of LCD Panels, But Must check or replace the external RGB Cable first befor doing all this exercise.

SOURCE: Status light blinking red

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.

For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]

SOURCE: Blinking status light

6 cycle (0.5 sec On,
0.5 sec Off) is a lamp error!
0.5 sec Off)
Lamp fails to light. Wait a full
minute and then turn on again.
Even though the lamp is not old there may be a defect in the lamp. I know the lamps are expensive but this may be the problem. If you have a lamp that was removed due to age but still worked you could use the lamp to test is a link to the user manual:

Hope this helps. :}

SOURCE: NEC VT 595 wont turn on. Just red blinking light

I had this same problem with 2 NEC VT595 projectors. My problem was that there was a broken "tab" on the lamp cover (the plastic cover that slides in place over the lamp) that is supposed to depress a switch which insures the lamp cover is in place before operating the projector. The tab was broken in half and not making the connection there for causing the blinking status light (.5 sec on, 2.5 sec off) indicating a lamp housing or cover error.

How to fix mirrors on NEC NP400 projector?

Hello there,

I know this problem all too well so my answer may be what you (and others) are looking for in the following thread:

Basically what happens is a prism in the projector has become dislodged due to the cheap adhesive they use and the extreme heat it's subjected to. Some JB-Weld Steel Reinforced Epoxy will fix it right up. Just read my instructions in the above link.

MY NP400 displays the top 1/3 of the screen darker

This is a problem with the honeycomb lens that the lamp first shines through. It will slide up,down, left or right depending how the projector is mounted. I've fixed 4 of these by making sure the lens is in the correct position then adding some metal shims around flimsy frame which holds the lens in place. Can be a pain if it is not lined up and you have to redo it until its perfect. Any metal pieces can be used as shims as long as it does not obstruct the lens.

Does a lamp error message (6 blinking red status lights) mean the lamp needs to be replaced? or could something else be wrong.

According to NEC technical support, if the status light flashes red six times, this could indicate a defective lamp. If a new lamp is installed and the project still won't turn on, the projector will need service.
