Question about Dryers

I can see my ignitor light up but it does not fire. About every third load it will fire and it dries a load just fine. But then it doesnt fire the next time.

@Mike,
I've been where you are and it can be frustrating! What you described, for lack of a better phrase, is an 'ignitor dying a slow death.' Within each heating unit (aka. ignitor) there is a tiny thermostat that tells the device WHEN to fire and how often. Your trouble can be fixed by replacing the part. If you supply your machine make and model number we can help point you to a replacement part which you can get online.
Thanks, Chris I.

replace the ignitor, even though trhe ignitor glows orange its getting weak and cant pas enough current to open the gas valve to supply enough gas to fire the venturi tube,so it supplies gas but wont ignite this is where your odor is coming from

Just hooked up my gas dryer. worked great thru 5 loads and then quit heating, help!

What did you do move it from one place to another place? You may have shifted the lint around and cause a limit to get tripped.
Here is the manual and more

A gas dryer has a burner assembly consisting of an ignitor, 2 coils, and a flame sensor. The ignitor does 2 functions. It lights the fire and confirms the fire is on like a thermocouple. When it is heated it holds in the coil. If the glowbar is not lit then the coils will not open. The ignitor must be heated to allow that. So if the ignitor and flame sensor is fine and the dryer works when cool but stops heating when hot I would say you need to replace the solenoids.

Gas oven doesnt work

Hello there:
Gas oven won't work, Ignitor is glowing Everything in the circuit must have continuity for the oven to fire up. What if the ignitor glows but the oven will still not come on? If the ignitor is glowing that would mean you have a circuit. Solution: Replace the ignitor, even if it comes on. Why? Because 99% of the time the ignitor is weak. When it is working fine it should be so bright you cannot look at it for long. If it is a mellow orange color it is bad, replace it. The only way the gas oven valve would be bad is if it is open and has no continuity. That goes for the control as well. Check out this simple diagram of how a basic gas range operates. glowbar.jpg oven ignitor An ignitor must draw at least 3.5 amps or that safety valve will not open up and release the gas: gas-ignitor-circuit.anim.5. Isn't heating up. takes forever to dry,

Disconnect the complete exhaust vent tubing and clean it out thorourghly. Then it will dry. There is a moister sensor in your dryer and when the lint builds up inside the vent tubing the sensor shuts off the burner to prevent fires from starting

Have a GE M# DDG9280GELWH gas dryer. Works fine but not firing-up to dry the clothes. Gas feed is fine. Is there an ignitor or other part causing the problem? How to trouble shoot? Gary

Make sure the lint filter, vent duct and vent outlet are not clogged blocking air flow. Then check the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

Our gas dryer is working but not heating. Every so often though the burner lights and the clothes will dry. What would the problem be? The ignitor? a fuse? The model number is 417.92052102

by every so often you mean once in a while as in like it doesnt work 2 loads and than like the third will work than couple dont work than it works?
if thats what happens you need gas coils  they are very easy to replace good luck reply with any questions

Ignitors keep firing by themselves after my aunt cleaned them 24 hours ago After she did the major cleaning of the stove I used the oven and it worked fine. I lit a burner (Probably front?) and the left...

Apparently there was a water spill around the burner control knob and in the burner itself; We ran the burner to create heat and then turned it off and let the water dry out and evaporate from the burner and igniter area.

If they ignitors worked properly before you aunt cleaned them, the problem could be with the way they were cleaned and what they were cleaned with. Please tell me how she cleaned them and with what. Also, had she cleaned them before without incurring any problems, or was this the first time she had cleaned them?

You have water left over from cleaning and it is shorting out the igniters at the knobs, not the burners. I guess the solution is to wait until it dries out unless you can open the top and maybe use a hair dryer.
