Question about Heating & Cooling
First go down and cycle the circuit breaker off by PUSHING it to OFF and then back on. It is possible one leg of the 220V is not there. Also there is a 3 - 4 minute time delay on the compressor circuit. The fan will run but the compressor will not. After the time delay cycle it should restart. Mind you the time delay cycle starts for 3 - 4 minutes as soon as it has input power. Any loss of power or that you turn off the unit and immediately back on it will again start the time delay. Overload maybe but I doubt it. After 5 hours I would think it has cooled off by now.
Also pull the power plug out of the socket and re-insert it. This again will restart the time delay but will ensure that you have a good connection at the wall.
Let me know how it works out and if your really do need more assistance just respond here and I will gladly help you.
Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Normally they have know reset on them. Most do have a time delay relay that will keep them from coming back on right away if they are shut off and back on real fast to prevent over loading the compressor. Turn it off for 5 minutes and back on. Wait 5 minutes to see if it will start up. If not, check your circuit breaker to see if it is tripped. Let me know what happens and we can go from there. Just leave me a message and I will get back to you to go into it futher.

This is whats called a package unit, all in one. This overload that you see on the schematic is the overload protector for the compressor when it draws to many amps a trips this protector on the common wire to shut the compressor off until it cools down, and will reset on its own if there is not a problem with the unit. If the compressor tries to start and will not and it shuts right back off, the compressor has a locked rotor or it may be the run capacitor that starts and keeps the compressor running. You may have a dual run capacitor which will be only one that runs both the condenser fan motor and the compressor, or 2, one for each. The larger one will be for the compressor. Look to see if it is swollen, leaking oil, deformed, or any burned spots on top where the wire terminals are at. If you see any of these, replace this run cap. It is about $12 to $18 dollars. Now that I know this is a package unit, you will have a disconnect box at the unit. It should have 2 cartridge fuses inside of it. If you cant see them when you pull out the off/on power plug, look behind the plastic cover and they will be there. Most boxes have them, If you find a blown fuse, replace both of them.Check the main breaker which I believe you have already. Also, you should have a circuit board in this unit where all of the wires enter the unit. It should have 5/16" hex head screws to remove. You need to check for a 3 to 5 amp fuse in the board that is just like the ones that are used in your auto. See if this unit has one. I don't know the age of it, but it should have one, Also, it may have a reset to trip the transformer from burning out. It you do have a reset and a blown fuse, if you reset and or replace fuse and they blow, you have a dead short in a control somewhere in the unit, Is this package unit a gas fired unit, or a heat-pump? Please let me know and I can walk you through some things to check, so we can get this up and running for you. I am trying to save you some $$$$, so please let me know. I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, but will be available,

Please read my other comments on the unit, as I was tied up on another problem and couldn't get to you right away

Thanks. I tried that but no go. I looked at the electrical schematic inside the front cover and it showed an overload symbol prior to the compressor. I was hoping it was a reset switch. It's a large air conditioner/heater combination unit and the outer cover appears to be difficult to remove (mostly because of the ubit's weight.
