Check for a defective lamp. Open the access door where the lamp is, remove it and see if visually it looks defective.

As a professional TV technician I have a piece of advice for other techs offering advice. Please know what you are talking about before you throw your 2 pennies in. As an example Mr. tvtek
Samsung HLS5679WX/XAA is an L E D TV. There is no lamp in this set. This set most likely has a bad LED driver board, a bad LED, or the subsmps board needs service. Please don't misinform people. I know this post is 11 months old, but I am sure people are still reading it. Thanks

I think with 1191 solutions and a 86.5% approval rate and 31 years experience, I am certainly allowed one slip when I had the type of DLP wrong. So before one like you throw in your two cents, please look at my history. Thank you

Make sure lamp is in correctly and as far as the color wheel: The ribbon cable from it to the DMD box only has connections on one side where it plugs in---it is possible to put it in backwards and set will detect wheel is not working..............

Replaced lamp light in Samsung HLT4675XS/XAA 1 year ago. TV is now turning off. The lamp light looks colorful but not bright. The standby light stays on after turning off the TV. Lamp light blinks twice...

I have a model close to yours & mine did the same thing. Its an easy fix the problem is its over heating. Unplug the tv take all the panels off the back of the tv and you will see lots of computer boards but look for one that has heat sinks and & small fan attached to it. Clean all the dust out in that area at the minimum but best to blow out all the dust on everything.

Make sure you are discharged cause if you spark any computer board it will be toast.

I replaced the lamp on my Samsung HLS5086WX/XAA DLP set. How do I reset the timer on the lamp?

I have a Samsung DLP HLN617WX/XAA. After turning off by itself, the three indicator lights were blinking... signifying a defective lamp. I've re-seated the old lamp several times with no change. I bought a new lamp and reset the lamp hours through the "service menu" with no change. My television is still turning itself off and still blinking the same indicator lights. What should I look at, next?

with lamp out (door closed) the ballast should "strike" or give an arc sound, trying to fire the lamp. If it does not do that maybe the color wheel is not spinning up - has to do that first.........then the set will try to fire the lamp
