HI,

Most likely your flash bulb burned out or was damaged. If you feel comfortable opening your camera you can buy a flash module on the internet or ebay for around $20-$25 and install it yourself. If you do so, be VERY careful NOT TO TOUCH the capacitor as those things can store a massive amount of voltage even when the battery is removed and the camera has been off for some time.

If you don't feel comfortable opening your camera and trying to replace it yourself, my suggestion would be to get it repaired or replace it if it is still under warranty.

Goodluck..

Recently purchased the Sony DSC-W290 and I have

how long do you usually charged the batt? to make charge last slightly longer leave the batt inside the charger for an hour after the charger light goes off. if you have a fully charged batt you should be able to take approx. 300 pics or 2.5hrs approx.batt life. for viewing pics it should give you approx. 6800 pics and approx. 5.5 hrs. of course, number of still images and and batt life may vary depending on the camera settings.so if you're zooming in and out, using the flash, going from camera to play mode, turning cam on and off, using other settings and features of the camera, this will cause the batt to drain much faster.also ambient temperature also affects batt life.if it's very cold, the batt drains a bit faster.also, it's recommended that if you're not using the camera to remove the batt.retaining the camera settings, date & time will cause batt to drain even if your not using it. if did this and still you think it's odd that your batt drains quickly and looses charge even if it's fully charge, it might also indicate that what you might be a defective batt. one way to find out is to try using the same type of batt from a friend or a relative that has one to confirm and further isolate issue.anyway, supplied accessories has the same warranty that applies to your camera.so you may send it out and have it replaced if needed.hope this helps.thanks:)

Sometimes won't open and can't import my pictures

The lens won't open or the comp. won't read the cam?
If it is on the cam:

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.

Does the blue screen apear on the cam or the computer?
If on the cam:

Reset the cam: Take the batt out for longer than 10 sec.
Exchange the SD card.

Flash does not work, have good batterys

probably there's a problem with the bulb of the flash itself and the cam would need to be serviced, contact kodak for that

you can try this too
use lithium/ni-mh> powercycle (remove batt and card)> put back batt> turn to PASM> try fill flash (at the top of the cam, use flash button), flash button at the center part of the screen should be a plain lightnightning bolt, no A beside nor line across it
take a picture
if still no flash - arrange repair with kodak

Stating 'No Picture' when I want to download pictures taken??

firstly take the card out and put it into a reader on your comp. it may have a read-write error. so see if it sill behaves normally, and if it does download the picks onto your HDD or another storage device.if the card is damaged a dameon (linux) or a pop-up word bubble (xp) vista will say "this device is defective etc... now if it is defective, i suggest getting the cam checked. however if the card is behaving normally and you have backed up all the photos and media on it clear the card. now open the cams battery bay and take the battery out, pushing the on button, now clears the capacitors of charge and resets some of the IC's now put the battery back looking too for battery problems, like deformity, heat, leakage if there is none, place the batt back in and the card back in. now turn the camera on, hopefully it should go through it usual startup procedure, then cycle through functions until you are happy all is well. it could have simple been that the screen saver did not start properly because of a flat batt or other instance. good luck
