Question about Canon imageRUNNER 1023iF Black and White Copier

1 Answer

The feeder in my office copier is not feeding the paper thru it. It only copies if you manually put it on the glass.

Hi, you need to open the adf cover, check for any leftovers of paper or clips, or... also clean the pick up and feed roller with alcohol by piece of fabric.
Also have on mind that the feeder is only for plain paper usage.

We have a Canon Image Class MF5900. When we put items through the feeder on the top of the machine to feed through for either copying or scanning we get the copies/scans but they also have line through...

Yes, this machine has what the call a scanning glass. Its the small thin glass where the paper goes down through the doc feed.its on this glass. A real close visual or take a clean piece of paper. Wad it up a and clean glass with that paper. It works. But if you don't have a line when you print or from the platin.(glass,main).its on that reader glass.

Copying 8.5x8.5 original thru document feeder and it doesnt aal print

Most copier has an APS (Auto Paper Selection) as default, 8.5 x8.5 is a square original, I would suggest you manually select the paper tray (e.g. Letter) first (this will temporary disable the APS for this session), then lay it down on the original glass, or ADF (Auto Document Feeder).

If you do not disable APS, you will have paper jamming problem, you do not have 8.5 x8.5 is th paper tray, of course, you may try it feed from the by-pass tray, set the the paper size to 8.5 x8.5 or special size ....... Each manufacturer has a different name for the same function (terminology).

I have a solid black line across my copies when I feed a document thru the document feeder. Have cleaned the small glass strip and it doesn't go away. What could cause it?

Has to be from that glass. Tell you what to do. Take the two phillips screws out of the bracket that holds it. One on each side. Lift the glass out and set it on a piece of white paper and see whats there. Sometimes it takes that to see exactly whats there.
It may also be on the bottom of the glass. The only place that can come from if its only when using the feeder is that glass.

Copies run through feeder distorted

Document feeder Paper feed rollers should be cleaned with alcohol, blow out the document feed area with compressed air (computer duster), check feeder for bits of paper, post it notes, and signature flags. Clean glass, check for sticky areas on the glass.

Hope this is of some help.

Paper feeder is not straight

Push the copy button with the cover up and no paper on the glass. Is the light bar straight up and down, or is it crooked? I can't imagine how paper could go thru the machine crooked, but check it out if you can. If the paper is too thin, it may not be getting grabbed by the rollers right.

Feeding from top

There is a switch in the document feeder that tells the machine there is a paper there. This switch is not being hit by the paper or the switch is not moving freely. With a flash lite you should be able to see this switch move.

Black lines on copies when run thru fax feeder

There is a thin strip of glass that you will see when you lift the top feeder. There is most likely white-out on it.

When you use the top feeder, it doesn't use the large glass, it only 'rolls' the original document over this small strip of glass.
