Maytag MFI2266AEU after dispensing 2 gallons of water (to fill a big jug ) the water and ice feature no longer work. They don't light up either.

As odd as this sounds, my Maytag MFX2570AEM stopped making ice. I could feel ice in the tray but it suddenly stopped ejecting or making more even when the bar was in the correct position.

I read many articles telling me the motor was dead, the gears for removing the ice from the tray needed to be replaced, etc. THEN, I read one person who responded that his issue was resolved with a HAIR DRYER. It turns out something about the unit had frozen due to water getting on it, etc.

Sure enough, after blowing a hair dryer into the ice maker for 5-7 minutes I replaced the ice maker drawer and in about a minute it ejected the ice and filled the trays with water again. It has been making ice ever since.

Basic diagnostics: make sure there is water supply line running to the unit and has water. If this is the case check to make sure the water supply line isn't crimped and is charged (has water pressure). If this is the case look for line blockage in the internal lines of the fridge. Make sure that all fuses are intact, there are no ground faults, and there is power to the control board. Make sure all ribbons are in tact and there are no breaks. Check for water damage on any of the sensors or other electronics which could be kicking fuses or internal breakers.

That depends if the ice maker continues to fill with water or just sits there with the ice slots empty. Sometimes it is the dual water control valve=> 4318046 Water Control Valve
and sometimes the ice maker itself. Does not hurt to have an extra part of each if you are a ice user like myself. If ice slots are empty fill with tap water and allow to freeze. If the ice drops and slots do not refill with water then replace the dual water control valve. 4317943 Ice Maker Assembly.

pull off cover in front of icemaker, there should be 2 hole under big gear labeled t and the other labeled h, jump those 2 with an insulated jumper wire, icemaker should run through complete cycle, pull out jumper wire at about 11 oclock on big gear, if goes through complete cycle and fills with water, ice maker is good, if not replace ice maker

If the ice maker no longer make ice, check the following.

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on.

On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice.

Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice/ water board has failed. This is easy to replace and usually not to expensive. Here is a link to the replacement. Before replacing check the 2 leads going into the board for power. You should have 120 volts entering the board. http://appliancehelponline.com/sxsiceboard.html

Door Panel Locked
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue pressing Freezer "-". You will see PE _ _ _ _.
Press Freezer "-" until PE # # # # shows on the panel.
Using Freezer "+" to move cursor, Refrigerator "+" and "-" to change numbers, bring all numbers to "0". Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. Unplug refrigerator for 45 seconds, never beyond 1 minute or you'll have to start over.
Look inside refrigerator door and locate the serial sticker. To the right of the serial number is the CODE ####. Plug in your refrigerator.
Press Door Alarm and Freezer "-" at the same time, then release Door Alarm but continue to press Freezer "-". Using the same method as above, enter the four digit CODE number you found on the serial sticker. Press Freezer "-" until PE and numbers blink. You have just reset your panel. Unplug for 45 seconds. Plug in refrigerator and you should now have full use of your door panel.
This unit has a built in safety timer mechanism. If it dispenses water for two minutes, it assumes it is flooding your house and shuts the panel down. If you are filling a pitcher of water, just stop dispensing halfway through to reset the safety timer.

The water valve appears to be the problem. The water valve ,located on rear of ref. at bottom has two (2) sides to it. One side feeds the water to the water dispensor and the other side feeds the ice maker..
