I had a similar problem and it was simple to fix. I hope yours is the same. The line going into the gas tank is not far enough down in the tank.Once you prime it with the primer bulb , it will run till that gas is gone. No fuel from the tank is getting to the carburetor. If you've replaced the fuel lines recently, this may be your problem. If not, try cleaning the fuel tank and the carburetor. Hope this helps.

My car wont run - changed the spark plugs and crankshaft sensor

Cars require three things to run.Spark, air and fuel.Take out a spark plug ,ground it to the engine, isolate yourself from the plug, and have someone crank the car over.Since the plugs are new they should work if not you have an ignition problem. If you have spark pop out the plugs and squirt some gas into the combustion chamber, replace the plugs, and crank the car .If it fires for a couple of seconds and then dies you have a fuel delivery problem, such as a bad fuel pump. I empathize with you ,a no start can be very frustrating but the above gives you a place to start Let me know how you make out, good luck.

Have Honda HRB215 mower. Fired right up first use this season and operated fine. Week later fires first pull then dies after couple seconds. Drained gas and replaced, checked fuel filter, gas lines etc....

Have you checked the spark plug? Mine was doing the same thing. Not staying cranked and sputtering while running. I changed the plug and it runs like new. Hope this helps

99 Ford Escort ZX2 2.0L Car will start but won't stay running unless you keep giving it gas

I had the same problem. My car sat for a few days and when i went to start it i heard an extremely loud pop (kind of like a backfire). After that it would start and sound fine, but die 2 seconds later. Thank god my bf is a mechanic he knew instantly that the pcv valve hose that connects to the intake manifold unplugged itself. He plugged it back in and it runs fine now. I didnt however get a check engine light, but i only tried to start it twice before he fixed it because i was scared it jumped time.

91 Lumina won't stay running; see lots of same question for same car but no problem solvers....Please help.

On electronic fuel injection pumping an pumping an pumping the gas pedal does nothing without the engine running ! Pushing the gas pedal to the floor will cause the PCM - engine computer to go into clear flood mode .

You have some very interesting ideas here , but not really how it works or is !

The vehicle will go into closed loop fuel control when the engine coolant temp reaches a definded temp an the O2 sensor get hot.

She would run for a couple minutes and die which is open loop when running, closed loop is when the sensors kick and it would die. Pulled spark plugs, they were black meaning no spark. Can only be 2

Black spark plugs indecate a rich condition , over fueled , wet spark plugs indecate no spark .

13 hp honda pressure washer 3000 psi 4gal/min Hard to start and dies out after 20 seconds after the engine gets hot and running after multiple starts the engine will stay running but then dies every 30...

There are a couple of things that can cause this problem. The first thing to check is if you are loosing spark. Dying after it gets hot sounds like to stater is failing in the engine. If you loose spark this is more than likely the issue. If you are not loosing spark you need to check the fuel system. Dying after 20 seconds it could also be a plugged main jet in the carb. Another common issue on Honda engines is a faulty vent on the gas caps for engines sold from around 2008 - late 2010. If your gas cap is only about 3/8" thick this is very likely to be your issue. Try running the engine without the gas cap on to see if it still dies. If not that is your problem.
