I used a router and adjusted the same conf. for both the router and the net book. All you need to do is to match both. I also know that you need to activate the wi fi by pressing the fn f9 buttons at the sometime. Try to log on and if it says connected but you are not able to use the net go to internet options and type yahoo.com or goggle.com. If you still not able to connect shut down and log on again. It works. Hope this helps Mrs.Mo

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: When I try to connect

How are you trying to connect to the Internet? It sounds like you are using another computer as a gateway, so if the other computer is offline you will not be able to connect. If you have another way to connect (such as a satellite, DSL, or something else like them, you need to disable your current connection. Go to control panel, internet options, connections, and see how you connect. IF YOU DO CONNECT THROUGH ANOTHER COMPUTER DO NOT CHANGE YOUR CONNECTION. Otherwise, disable or delete that connection, and then go to the lan portion (towards the bottom of that menu) and click it. In the new menu, unclick automatically detect settings. If you are not sure what you are doing, write back and be more specific with your question.

SOURCE: sylvania 7 inch netbook will

Dear digital gadgets ,

Ive been more then patient waiting for the help that your company promises. If I do not hear back from your tech support to fix this problem, I am going to have no choice but to take my attorneys advice and start a class action suit ,and with all the people online that are having the same problem i am sure i will have no problem getting your consumers to join in on the class action suit. I also have-no doubt that the suit would take years, however my daughter who is crushed that her CHRISTMAS present does not work as well as the hopes and dreams of children everywhere will guarantee that we as a whole will prevail. You need to ask yourselves if a lawsuit that would most likely render your company bankrupt is really worth not helping to just fix the problem . If you are asking yourself who in there right mind would sue over something that cost less then a hundred dollars, the answer is everyone that bought one of these for a Christmas present and had there children,or mother's or so on crushed by it still not working or evan getting the help they need. I am forwarding this to SYLVANIA since it is there name you are using . I do hope that this problem gets fixed and it doesent turn into a bigger deal for all parties involved.

Thank you
Sheryl hammer

We have new netbook and we are connect to a wireless internet but my netbook will not connect to the internet.

First, on the left side of the main screen, you will see an icon that says "WI-FI Power". That's the switch to turn it on. When you click it, a little box will appear that says "turn on" when it's off and "turn off" when it's on.

But maybe you hadn't fully set machine up yet.

Try checking the following to see if any of these steps were missed.

On a "hooked up" computer, Google "digital gadgets.com". There find "Sylvania Products". Then click on "7 inch netbook support" and follow directions inputing to the 7" netbook as you go.

For item # 4, you find your "hot spot" name (on the 7" netbook) and click "connect".

For item # 5, you may have to call your Internet Service Provider (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet) in order to get your "network key" fill that in (on the 7" netbook) and then click "OK".

Next (on the 7" netbook) be sure you go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "General" and complete "user agent (requires browser restart" by selecting:
"Default (same as windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE".

I selected "default" and was off and running.

Although this isn't a "lap-top" it is a really neat little machine and does a lot of stuff almost like one. It should be great for travel! It is a little slow and has small memory, but it's inexpensive and usb/sd ports are onboard. A regular universal mouse helps-just plug it into a USB port. I'm doing internet, movies, word processing, etc like everything and I think a lot of people are way under-rating this fun little machine! -DKA-

The WiFi software that is embeded into the OS does not work very well. Fortunately digitalgadget.com has a download that somewhat fixes this problem fairly well. The new download is not totally goof proof, but you can work with it.

Go to: http://www.digitalgadgets.com/netbooks/update.html and download the indicated update. You can copy it to a thumb drive and connect the thumb drive to your Sylvania , find it under My Computer and then copy it to your
desktop and run it from there.
