Re: Battery cover contact broken off
Simply look for the broken part and join it with and adhensive(super glue)...................if that does not work look for a small plastic material of similar thickness. if possible cut it to fit the broken part and then file both ends. glue one end with the adhensive and join both ends quickly. let me know of the outcome. good luck.

Probably not as the cause is most likely broken molded plastic parts that where to small and thin to last very long. Seems to be a common problem on this otherwise great pocket camera. Use tap or a rubber band to keep the battery cover closed so the contacts still work. Bad design by Canon.
I suggest that you contact Sony PAS to get the new Battery cover at 1-800-488-SONY (7669) Phone Hours: Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 12 am (Midnight) ET Saturday and Sunday - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm ET
Then, contact the nearest dealer to get the Battery door fixed instead of sending for service.
All you have to do is, press the pin on both the sides of the Battery door and insert in the hole available for battery door on camera.
Is that the battery compartment, use rubber bands to hold them together!? If this is the problem, I am thinking of a solution that works yet! If you have problems with that back contact put aluminium foil on the contacts.
A repair is unlikely without parts, It also depends weather its the part that is actually broken is on the battery cover or the camera itself.
If the camera itself a new case for the camera will be required if the battery cover then a new cover will be needed.
to obtain the spares you have two routes,
a) contact the manufacturer (contact details should be in the manual or on the gtee card)
b) buy a faulty camera from somewhere like ebay and use it for parts
On mine, the battery terminal on the inside of the battery case is broken, by opening and shutting the cover a few times until it contacts properly it is normally OK. Anyone know where I can buy a new contact plate in theUK?
Take batteries out and have them checked, and make sure they are fully charged.
Take a pencil eraser and clean/polish the contacts at base of the battery compartment
Take a look at the battery-comp cover place and make sure the contact plate is firm
replace batteries switch on OK
No? Open the battery compartment, place a piece of foil across the batteries and shut it - turn on -OK
Press the cover in
Them it has broken beyond your reach and needs repair or replacement
