If your router is unsecured then please make it secured as soon as possible.
Connect one computer to the router and open the setup page of the router. You can change the wireless security settings on the setup page.

Do this on your wired computer
Step 1:check your ip address
  • click start>run>type cmd on the run box, command prompt will be opened
  • type ipconfig/all > look for default gateway under Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection
Step 2. access the setup page of your router
  • open you internet browser > type the default gateway numbers on the address bar
Step 3. personalize your wireless network
  • go to the WIRELESS tab > personalize the Network Name( SSID )
  • go to the wireless security SUBTAB > personalize the wireless password ( ideal security mode will be WPA-personal or WPA2-personal
Don't forget to save the settings

My Router works only if I do not put security password on it.

The router works only if the network is unsecured.
When you secure the wireless network , make sure that you will change the wireless network name also. Because if you change the wireless security and if you keep the same network name then your computer will try to connect to the same network name with the old unsecured settings saved on the computer.
Try to change the SSID ( network name ) and security to WPA, check if that works.
If that doesn't work then I believe you will need to upgrade the FIRMWARE of the router.

Need to secure wireless connection

1. Connect the computer to your Wireless router then using the internet explorer access the router gui 192.168.1.1abd7975.jpg 2. It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. This is the password that you will use to login and configure your router after this initial setup. 61e656e.jpg+

My computer is not recognizing my signal its connecting automatically to linksys unsecured signal

I assume your network is NOT this Linksys --- have you set up your router yet? If not, use your browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 and log in to your router. After the login, go to your Wireless section, set the network name (SSID), and some security as well. I prefer WPA-PSK[TKIP] for its simplicity to set up. Access via wireless will need whatever passcode you set here. Your network should show your newly-named network now. Connect to it with the passcode, and you should be good to go!

I want to make my broadband secured.

The model that you have listed is not a wireless router, so if it isn't, the only way people could be connecting is if they are physically connected to your router. If you do have a wireless router, please list the correct the model number.

make sure that the linksys VOIP(secure) router is broadcasting it's SSID or signal, otherwise it will not reflect even if you refresh the wireless network. If the router is broadcasting SSID but the lenovo laptop is not detecting it, try to re-install the wireless software for the laptop using the software from lenovo.com, just click Support then Downloads and drivers.
