You should be able to order a user's manual through an Aerus Electrolux store ( .) They will of course try to sell you a new vacuum. To the best of my knowledge, the U160A was built by Aerus for sale exclusively on QVC. The Aerus/Electrolux stores never sold them and they probably don't like them because of that. They will likely say that they don't "stock" parts for the U160A. That's too bad. It was made by Aerus and tell them you want the manual ordered. I don't know what it will cost.

Follow-on: I contacted Aerus Customer Support by e-mail ( ) and they sent me a .pdf copy of the manual. It was not available on their web site with all their other manuals (probably because the U160A was not sold by the Aerus/Electrolux dealers.)

Thanks for the information I am also looking for a manual to my Ultra Lux and I will contact Aerus and get them to email me a copy of the manual. Thanks for the info. Also, I am a bit confused because several years ago when I contacted the Electrolux now Aerus to purchase vacs for a second home I bought this Ultra Lux model and a Lux Legacy upright and an air filter from the salesman. I have heard others speak of it being only sold on QVC but that was not my experience.

Yes you can get parts, supplies and repairs through an Aerus dealer as the U160A certainly is an Aerus machine. They just were not sold by the Aerus/Electrolux dealers but only on QVC - of course there are always exceptions. It's a really good vacuum. I used to own one. Best of luck.

Ultralux vacuum 2000

Several possible problems can cause it not to run. The cord reel often gets lint in side and fails to conduct. Carbon brushes in the motor could have worn out. One of the interlocks that keeps it from working with the bag out can be broken. You need to take this to a local vac shop.

Won't turn on

That's because there is a safety switch underneath the bag when you go to shut the top hatch after putting the new bag in. The cardboard of the bag fits in a little cutout. You see that little silver thing? That's the switch. If you push down on it with a pencil, and the machine kicks on, then that was the problem. If it's not lined up just right, or if it's too thick, the switch won't go down all the way. Make it :-)

I am looking to buy a used electrolux vacuum cleaner. I have the choice between the ultralux, the marquise, the diamond jubilee, and the olympia. Which one is the best model? Which has the best...

The Ultralux is the newest of your list. The Olympia has the old type powernozzel that is rectangular. The rest have the new L shaped powernozzel and the brush is longer. As to the performance, the three newer vacuums should be the same. If the vacuums are used and not rebuilt, I would select the Ultralux. The Marquise had a motor issue when they came out and if the motor has not been changed I would stear clear of it. I changed 37 motors in one month under warranty. They did rectify the problem with the later models of the Ultralux.
