Question about Philips 60PP9352 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I can see more red than the other two colors. I opened it up and there was dust on two of the light sources, but not on the red. Will getting the dust off, get rid of the fuzzy look and make the other colors clear? If so, how do I open the case? Is there a manual for the light sources?

MODEL INDICATED HAS 3 TUBES---THE LENS SHOULD BE REACHABLE FROM THE BACK WITH THE SET UNPLUGGED AND THE BACK COVER REMOVED. Clean them with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel----they are the light source for your picture and if dusty the picture will be darker and duller than it should be------This should be done once a year or more often if a dusty environment. If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as I do this here for free. SD TECH

Testimonial: "Thank you!!! The only thing I need now is to know how to get to the lens. It is covered. Is there a manual to show me how?"

Thank you. Image was dull due to a lot of dust over the 3 tubes. I unplugged it, removed the back top cover and was able to get to it from the left and right behind the mirror. Thank you.

Red color seperating

If you mean the red light is displaying offset from the blue and green then the red LCD panel inside the projector needs to be physically adjusted. If you take the projector apart you'll notice that the light source is split into red, green and blue light by passing through an optical splitter. Each color then passes through it's own LCD panel. Next, each color is joined back together by another light splitter to be projected to your screen. The red LCD panel is misaligned.

Red does not print on one side of the page

I have bad news :( when that happen on this model its because one of the lasers its contaminaded. Dust or toner get inside the unit and block the light of the laser for the magenta causing issues with color that uses red. If you print a configuration report the red look faded in the sides. Changing the cartridge wont fix it. it can be repaired but its expensive. I suggest to get a new model. or if you call HP they can exange it for about $200

I have an HP laserJet 2600N Printer Iinstalled

The laser unit is positioned in such a position that the air intake fan draws any environmental dust into the unit and the lens and mirrors of the magenta laser are first to be deposited with this dust resulting in a week laser beam onto the magenta drum , resulting in very light magenta images. Solution if you are technical minded take the unit out the rear ond clean all the laser mirrors and lenses be very carefull. I regularly have a machine in the workshop with this problem , the cleaning of the laser unit can also be a solution to the colour mis alighnment problem.

Panasonic PT-61LCX65 tv has color spots

if you mean color spots size of a dime or so.
  • easiest: it is dust in some step of the projection light path.
  • hardest: the light engine could be damage
if you mean little ones as little dots (a neddle punshing) red and blue but always there:
  • condition call it: pixels always on: light engine is the reason.
as you see the light engine is the main part here, IT is expensive repair. so if you can survive with those little dots do it.
IF it is dust, is good idea asking for and estimate to see if can works.

Magenta print out very light

This is caused by dust in the scanner assembly. There's a fan right by the magenta laser scanner that blows dust and particulate matter in the air directly on that laser scanner.
Requiring its removal and careful cleaning of all lenses and mirrors. Unfortunately, this is not covered in the service manual. Getting the laser/scanner out is not too bad: Start by removing the printer covers, the rear plate, and the plate on which the DC controller and formatter mount. Remove the four laser/scanner unit corner screws and the single screw for its cover. Be careful to remove the small shutter spring on the cover before removing the cover. Use a strong flashlight to carefully examine the copper-colored mirrors for dust. Use dry cotton swabs to carefully clean all dust from the mirrors and the lenses. Blow dirt and dust from the inside of the scanner box. You will notice that the bottom mirror, facing up, is the one with the most dust.

Red is printing pink.

have u used this printer quite a bit....? if so the following may be the problem and I just did run across this recently in a printer we had in the shop....I recently read in one of my technical magazines that there may be a design flaw in the placement of the laser scanners and the openings that protect them....it seems that excess toner dust can readily get in to scanner area and specifically inside the scanner assembly and accumalate on the scanner glass and lens. Just cleaning through the opening in the back of the printer will not eliminate the issue. Machine will have to be disassembled, scanner removed and opened and the glass/lens cleaned with a q-tip....the placement of the fan (behind cartridges, lower right) seems to speed this process up and it usually becomes first notable with the magenta cartridge, seeing as it is at the bottom of the printer closest to the fan. Hope this helps..

White Balance

What is White Balance? The human eye captures white as white, red as red and blue as blue, regardless of whether you are outside under the sun or inside under incandescent lighting. Although this is something that we take for granted, the human eye actually adapts to correct the changes in color under different light sources. In reality, when light sources vary, colors caught as the reflection of those light sources also vary. For instance, films for cameras that use film are designed to capture the most appropriate coloring outside under the sun. Thus when you take pictures under incandescent or fluorescent lighting without using a flash, the colors in the resulting picture may seem strange. Digital camera and digital camcorders are equipped with a handy feature called "White Balance" that corrects the changes in color under different light sources, just like the human eye. One of the white balance settings, "Auto White Balance" (AWB) automatically adjusts to correct the changes in color under different light sources. White Balance and Coloring The White Balance feature on Canon digital cameras and camcorders is set to "Auto White Balance" at the time of purchase. If you prefer different coloring, if you want to adjust the coloring more in detail, or if you want to change the coloring on purpose, we recommend that you change the white balance setting.
