Question about Sony VAIO PCV-V200G PC Desktop
Sony Vaio crashed so I re-installed Windows XP Home Edition and now no sound whatsoever. Device manager says all drivers are ok and card is working properly, but still no sound. HELP
Please check the following:
1.) you have keyboard volume up, down and mute buttons on your laptop they are usually Fn +PgUP or PgDn or Fn +End(which will mute your sound off). Otherwise you'll see the proper keys with a subtext in blue that is indiated by icons. As you use these keyboard keys you should see an onscreen display of the volume changing.
2.) If the above does not work look at the area next to your time of day display for a speaker icon and double click it. You should then see the volume sliders for all sound functions of your laptop. Check that the sliders are in the up position and the mute button is not check (other than your microphone).
3.) There is also a sound icon in Control Panel and this set of pages for it has further functions, such as selecting or de-selecting your sound card. You may need to review those too.
If you have external speakers attached checked that it is firmly plugged in by removing and reinserting and then (and I know this sound brutally simple but), see that they are plugged in and powered on. If they are powered by batteries check them too.
If you have found that this set of solutions I have offered has fixed your problem PLEASE rate this problem as Fixed by clicking on the fixed icon below.
If you have further questions, reply to the post and Ask Me. I'll be glad to help you through this.

Can you see the volume in task bar in the right hand corner of the desktop near the time, if no then reinstall the sound drivers otherwise download the latest drivers from the manufacture website
