Quantum Super DLT Tape Drive

HP SDLT 110/220 not working anymore (by 2 users)

posted by MvdBroek on May 14, 2008

Hi,

I have a SDLT 110/220 and it worked fine till last night.
This morning, the middle light was flashing, but the was no activitie.
When I tried to eject the tape, all 3 light started flashing.
I know that the tape can get stuck in the drive, or the flashing of the lights mean the unit is too hot.
As the tape did not eject, I assumed this was the problem, so I disassembled the drive and removed the tape; replaced the leader and put power back on the drive.
It booted up and made the usual sounds and went idle with the middle light lite. When I inserted a tape, it picked it up for a few seconds and then went back to the state I found it this morning. This tape could also not be ejected, this meant I had to remove the tape again manually. I lost 2 tapes already.
Does anyone know this problem and more important, how to solve it.

Thank,

Marcel van den Broek
