The water inlet valve has failed. They tend to hang up when debris gets into the valve. The whole valve will need to be replaced. They are usually inexpensive and are easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/washerwaterinlet.html

Hi, if it fills slowly overnight with clean water you may have to repalce the solenoid valve as it may be seeping water through, If however it fills with dirty water you may have water returning from the sink, if this is the case raise the level of the grey outlet pipe

During the wash cycle, the water and suds overflow and flood the launry room

try turning off the water at the supply after the machine fills up and see if this still happens. Chances are your fill valve isnt shutting off when its supposed to.

You should also check for power to the switch after the unit starts the wash cycle and see if it is still energized. Which would be a sign of a damaged timer unit.

you can buy/replace the valve, no problem, what is happening is the armature in the valve is lifting causing the water to enter the machine, if you take valve apart you should see the rubber plunger is jammed in the open position, you can trim to fit

Water won't shut off

Experienced a similar matter w/ ours that resulted in $3000 worth of floor damage in our house. The solution was an $85 service call for a tech to come out and reconnect a tube that detects when the machine has filled to the proper hight. Without this mechanism in place the washer thought it needed to continue filling (in our case it fille for 2 hours while we were gone). Sorry, never learned the proper name of this water pressure sensor.

Water sometimes does not shut off. flooded twice. happens intermittently.

If when the machine is flooding if you turn off power to the machine and it continues to fill: replace water inlet valve. If flooding water stops filling when power is interupted: clean out the end of the water level switch tube where it connects to the outer wash tub.

Sounds like your inlet valve is stuck Open ( meaning it wont shut off incoming water ) That may be defective or the control to it may be at fault.. Try unplugging the washer ..and see if the water still continues to fill up the drum? If that happens, then your valve is probably in need of replacement.. Typically, when de-energized..they close and stop water from entering the system.. Hope that helps
