Do you want to mean the connector of the firewire cable? As I checked specifications this hard drive is not equiped with USB connection. Every external hard drive's case can be disassembled, you can take a look here for an example. Anyway, if a metal part is inside the case you should somehow remove it to avoid a potential shortcircuit.

If this is the solution for your problem, please rate my post, otherwise give us more details.

Verbatim portable hard drive usb connector problem

The connectors are usually just soldered to the PCB inside. If you know how to solder then take it to bits and re solder it. Or take it to a computer repair shop and they should be able to do it for you.

Charging connector is loose

Yes, you have found the problem. The mini-USB jack is broken, preventing the battery from being charged. However, you can charge the battery by using the 660's snap in cradle and bypass the USB port. If you want the jack replaced, please see this link:

You will want to fix the jack because you will not be able to update the firmware or map until the jack is fixed.

Hi My hard drive lacie minimus super speed usb 3.0 1Tb is recognized by windows 7 then after a few minutes it disconnects. Donato

If your computer or laptop has a problem detecting a USBhard drive or a USB device, and another computer can detect it, then theproblem could be a RF interference problem. Try using an USB cable that is a shielded USB cable (ie. AnUSB cable that has a clear plastic covering and you can see a metallic weavewhich covers the wires) OR a USB cable that has a Ferrite core attached to theUSB cable (the ferrite core is a cylindrical object approximately 30mm long X15mm diameter and it is attached to the USB cable near the connector).

How do you fix a soft closing toilet seat where one hinge has become loose, one side has become detatched

Sorry there is no fixing one. the reason the hinge probably came loose is the wood has cracked and/or the wood got wet and rotted and the screws won't stay tightened. Go to Walmart and get you a new seat.

I cant connect usb in my notebook .the connection is going inside , is not fix in notebook.what i have to do.

hi there,
it sounds like the usb connector has become loose from inside the notebook itself, what you will need to do is to open up your notebook and re-affix the connector. if you do not know how to open up your notebook, you will have to take to local repair company or if it's still under warranthy, take it back to the retailer you purchased it from, and get them to fix it for you free of charge. Hope this helps :)

My PC is unable to read my transcend store jet 2.5 360 gb. tried several times, after formatting it is unable to read after plugin the USB PHD the Blue light blinks but my pc doesnt read atll

I encountered the same problem before and was able to track it down to the power needs of the drive.
USB 2.0 standard ports are required to deliver 100mA by default and up to 500mA on request by a connected device. Some older (USB1.x) hubs can deliver a maximum of 50mA only which is not sufficient for the harddrive.
My StoreJet as a fix came with a special Y-connector cable (two USB connectors go into PC, one into the connector at the HD) to double the available power. I have also seen cables with an extra power connector built inside the plug that goes into the PC side. However, this is a crude fix in violation of USB standards and I cannot condone the use of such cables.

A separate power connector is present at the back panel of the drive, but it came without a power supply included. I got myself a standard 5V/500mA universal power supply (check connector jack size and polarity, outside sleeve is ground, inside is +5V DC).

Alternatively an external USB2.0 hub can be used but beware: if it does not come with an external power supply, its not USB2.0 compliant --- some cheap companies spare themselves of the extra costs for this required part.

Another thing: the mini USB connector in the back panel of the HD case is mechanically fragile and not soldered well to the controller PCB. It has a tendency to loose electrical connection.
I had to fix the soldering on two of these HDs already; doing so yourself is recommended only if you have some experience in using a fine electronics soldering iron --- otherwise have a repair shop fix it for you.

My monitor is change it's colour by it shelf, Why?

This happens to me a lot. It's gennerally the connectors to the computer. Like at the back of the monitor, it might not be plugged in properly or even at the back of the computer. If this doesn't help, it is most likely inside the monitor itself.

The internal power supply prongs are bent. How do

Thanks for using fixya..

If the prongs are bent, all you need to do is to get a pair of pliers and try to re-align them. If that is not possible, you can try to open up the power supply and directly tap the power cable into the prong's cable line (if you have an idea how to do this, go on and try it. If you have absolutely no idea how to do it, then its better to just bring your power supply to a local electrician, they can probably fix the problem in no time)

Thanks and have a nice day

Mini USB disconnected inside HP all-in-one 2210v psc

You will have to take the printer apart and re-solder the usb connector to the board.
it was jerked out likely by moving the printer while it was attached to the cored or was tripped on.
it may not be an easy job to fix as you have to have several tools
and soldering skills,
you need a electronics nerd to help.

The fix is really easy and costs nothing, just 10 minutes of your time!

*I fixed mine (twice) this way*

Turn the cam over.
remove all the screws holding the dark plastic bottom on the camcorder, remove it carefully.
Now you will see the ribbon cables, VERY GENTLY, wiggle them from left to right (about 1mm each way), then push them in.
Test by putting your battery back on and see if it holds a tape, or plays without blinking and switching off - you will be happy.

The fault is simply that one cable (I can't tell you which one) becomes loose over time, so it just needs to be pushed back in and the condensation error and/or the door closing problem go away!

A lot of folks are buying cams off eBay like this as it's such a simple repair!

Good luck - please help others - post back if it works!
