Question about GE Refrigerators

Open Question

The GE WR30x10093 replacement ice maker has a different style plastic ice stripper. The old one has "teeth" on both sides so he cubes will drop a little further out. I've read that the instructions say you need to swap it with the old one. Is that hard to do without breaking it?

SOURCE: GE 25 side by side refrigerator ice maker problem

Assuming the temp inside the freezer is at around 0 or -2 degrees, it should dump ice every ~50 minutes or so. Again, depending on temp's, an Ice Bin should fill within 24 to 48 hours. If your freezer temp is running at around 10 degrees, everything will obviously still be frozen (below 32), but the ice maker will take longer to freeze the water than it would if it were at 0 degrees. Open both doors and place the palm of your hand on the partition between the freezer and Fresh Food compartments... (where the door gaskets seat when they're closed). The temp of the partition should be about 5 or 10 degrees warmer than body temp., If it's hotter than that, you found the problem. Either the condenser coils are dirty and need a good cleaning OR your condenser fan motor (the fan in back, near the floor in the compressor area) is failed or about to fail.

SOURCE: GE Profile refrigerator ice maker stopped working

I had the same problem where one of the solinoids in the valve- the one controlling water to the ice machine had stopped working. A good test is to pour water into where the ice cubes are made. If ice cubes come out then the problem is most likely in the valve. I replaced my valve for the second time in 8 years today and the ice is comming out nicely.

SOURCE: Ice Maker Issues-only crushed ice works, cubed comes out crushed

There is a solinoid in the freezer section by the motor that turns the ice auger. Test it by selecting cubes and with the ice bucket out, open the door, hold the door switch so the lights turn out and push the dispenser button. It should make a loud snap and travel upward. If not then I would say you have a bad solinoid. If it does, then I would look at the bucket. the metal rod that runs along the side of the bucket opens a flap in the bucket that is supposed to let the full cubes drop. look for anything that might cause it to be hanging up.

SOURCE: Ice maker only dispenses crushed ice, won't dispense cubed ice anymore.

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.

I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.

I have a tfhw24 whistling ge refrigerator and the ice maker is not working. water is not entering, nevertheless the filter is connected to the appliance.

Since this is an older model it would not hurt to replace both the=> WR57X10051 Water Inlet Valve and the=> Ice Maker Assembly WR30X10093 To test feel the ice slots for any remaining cubes if no cubes of ice are there fill the ice maker to the near top and allow to freeze. If after the water is frozen the ice maker cycles and drops the ice in the ice bucket and does not refill with water change the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing while there is ice remaining in the ice slots replace the Ice Maker

Why is my Ice Maker in GE Refridgerator "leaking"?

We had this happen twice and both times it was the line that supplies the water to the ice maker. We had to change the line because it was made of plastic and had cracked.

ICE WILL NOT GO INTO A DUMP MODE

A lot of the GE Ice Makers are electronic and almost not worth the chance of trying to fix because of the cost and difficulty to repair. I will post a repair manual HERE but I will say it will be better to replace the ice maker and go with a new replacement. Your GE Refrigerator model GSS201EP takes a WR30X10093 Ice Maker or WR30X10093 Ice Maker I am here if you have questions, Sea Breeze

Model TFX25PR ; Does the ice cube maker require any lubrication ?

The type ice makers made for your model and other models require no lubrication and are one of the most used parts of your refrigerator especially if there is a large family and lots of ice used daily. They never seem to stop working while the average refrigerator last 15 to 20 years the average life of an ice maker is only 5 years. Even ice makers that have replaceable parts the repair parts are more expensive in most cases than complete replacement. Below is an example of an average ice maker that Whirlpool and Maytag uses that have the Teflon coating in the ice slots. Your model is for GE,=> Model WR30X10093 Ice Maker and has electronic controls and no replaceable parts. Thanks, Sea Breeze

My ice maker fails to make ice, and seems to get "stuck" between batches, causing a clicking noise that occurs continuously about every 30 seconds. Any suggestions?

check for a stuck ice cube, something is preventing your ice maker to advance, if there is no ice cube, replace ice maker part #wr30x10093 for standard in freezer ice maker or part #wr30x10097 for ice maker in refrigerator

Gss20I eph ice maker ?? If I turn the switch of

I am almost sure the model ice maker for your refrigerator is Click Here=> WR30X10093 and the model number for your refrigerator is GSS20IEPHWW or SS for Stainless. It sounds as if a bad connection on the ice fill arm. The truth is they are electronic and made in China along with most of the parts on your GE. I replaced mine that was the mechanical type with this same model number WR30X10093 and the mechanical lasted 15 years. If you manually can make it work one time and fills properly but after one cycle yet turns itself off my focus is on the ice maker. If you want to check OHM's to the dual water control valves they should both be about the same. Applying 120 volts to each side of the coils being water dispenser side and ice maker side will or should open them. But you just said that moving the arm that it will fill one time so I am back to the ice maker again. If water control valve for ice maker side did not work you would not be able to do that. GE Profile Refrig model PSC23SGRC ice maker stopped making ice. Water is ok, just stopped? Is this common? Its only 4 yrs old

Your model has an electronic ice maker part number Click Here=> WR30X10093 When the electronic ice maker fails you usually need to replace the complete ice maker. You can test the ice maker by filling the tray with tap water. If the water freezes aand then drops the ice then the water control on the back of your refrigerator is the reason. The water control valve is Click Here=> WR57X10032 Either way let me know your results, Thank You, Sea Breeze

Icemaker water overflows into freezer

the condensate tube is run incorrectly on this model and goes uphill into the area above the refrigerator where there is a condensate pan. This will plug and back up and cause this problem. I have fixed ours several times but it always came back. The last time I bought a new clear plastic tube and reran the condensate out the back of the refrigerator and down through my floor. It's all downhill now and seems to have fixed the problem.
