Question about Olympus EVOLT E-410 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I purchased this camera months ago and hate it. I guess I dont know how to use it correctly. Any time I try and take pictures it seems like it take forever for the pic to take. By the time it clicks the subject has moved resulting in blurry pic. I have tried moving the dial to different settings and no change. Any suggestions?

You need to learn the "half-press". You press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep). Then, when the moment is right, you finish pressing the rest of the way for an instant picture.

Every time I take a photo I get ''file error'' message and the picture does not display correctly

I assume that you mean that the picture does not display on the camera screen correctly. Have you tried to copy images from the cameras storage card to your computer? What happens?

My best guess is that either the card is corrupted or the card "file allocation table" or FAT is corrupted. The first problem will require you to purchase another card. The second problem can be resolved by formatting the card in your camera. This will erase any images that are on the card and you can find out how to format with your camera by reading the manual.

Nikon D300, purchased 14 months ago. Pictures are not as clear.

Try cleaning the contacts on the camera body and lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Nikon D70 Shutter Problem

I have a Nikon D70 which failed completely but exhibited similar symptoms.
I was fortunate in that I had taken out 3 years free warranty at the point of purchase and therefore saved the £90 (sterling) repair cost.
Nikon cameras are designed to be robust and should give a lifetime's service. Most should give 150,000 shutter actuations.
There is a piece of free software available on the Web that will tell you how many actuations were recorded on your recent photos.
Unfortunately, in the fast moving world of digital cameras, the value of a 2nd user older camera is very low.
You need to decide if you were outgrowing this camera body and want to replace it with something better or whether you would be lost without it. My repair took more than 1 month and I was not able to take any photos during his time.
I hope this helps.

My screen on my camera is pink. All pictures are PINK!!!

I seem to remember seeing something about this and I think it was on youtube, though at only 6 months old it should still be covered by the warranty and should be returned to the retailer for repair or replacement and no attempt made to repair it or fiddle around with it.

We had similiar problems with ours until we started making sure the camera was kept warm when it was shut off. For some reason, it and the batteries don't like the cold...we were able to extend the battery life if we kept it covered when we weren't using it.

My camera wont take the picture and screen is black

Be sure to fully charge your batteries if rechargeable - at least 14 hours. Check that your card door is closed good - it's common for the latch to break. There's a switch at the top of the door that has to close before it'll turn on.
