Venturer PVD 880...

I purchased 2 of these portable dvd players in November 07, one has never been used and never been out of the box, HOWEVER when I got it out to give it as a gift to a 7 year old and it wouldnt work. When you plug it in to charge it for the first time (5 to 6 hours) it says the charge light should be on showing its charging.... well it does nothing at all. What can I do to get this fixed, and is it worth it? I dont remember what I did with the receipt for it or I would take it back to the store. PLEASE HELP....
