Question about Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 AMD Phenom Socket AM2+ 3000 MHz Motherboard Retail
I'm building a new pc with this Gigabyte motherboard(GA-MA790FX-DQ6). My spec :
AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition Quad-Core 2.5GHz
THERMALTAKE W0132RU 1000W MODULARIZED ATX CROSSFIRE ATI
New Corsair Dominator 4GB (2GBx2) DDR2 1066 with Fan
Visiontek HD 3870 X2 Oc Edition
Western Digital Raptor® X 150GB/16MB Cache/10,000RPM SATA
thermaltake water cooler bigwater 760i
I connect all the parts and wires and turn on the power the is nothing comes up on my monitor not even a Bios menu! The cpu is running cause it get hots fans are running, there is noise from the harddrive, the water cooler fan is running. But not booting!! I tried it with another basic graphic card which is Radeon HD3650 512mb DDR2 pcie and nothing comes up either. My motherboard Chassis intrusion header does not have a cap on(don't think its the cause) Is it not booting because the ew Corsair Dominator 4GB (2GBx2) DDR2 1066 ? Does all the fan headers have to be plug in for the mobo to boot? I only have one hard drive and its connected to sata ! Please help!!!!
Is you're memory installed in the two yellow slots?
Try using only 1 DIMM in DDRII_1 slot.
Page 17 in you're manual. When using only one PCI-E graphics cards you do not need to plug in extra power to the board, as shown on page 19. (Only need this additional 4-pin Molex when running two PCI-E cards).
Check internal connector is plugged in item,
1 ATX_12V_2X (Pg. 23 in you're manual).
(System will not boot without this).
Also item, 2 main power 24-pin Molex cable is securely connected. Chassis Intrusion Header (By default is opened/no jumper). I don't like the CPU getting hot. It shouldn't. Do you have a spare heat sink & fan for you're CPU? Are you 100% the cooling system is running correctly?
Lastly, here is Gigabyte's Qualified Vendors List (QVL), for you're board. Corsair 2GB is not listed.
