I had the same problem today. Don't know what caused it. But I turned off the Makos using the switch behind the subwoofer waited about a minute then turned them back on, problem solved.

Hope this helps you and others who encounter this problem.

I guarantee it's a simple 99 cent capacitor. takes 5min to fix. It's labeled C125 on the circuit board.view this photo for reference....

it's a simple 25V 47uf 85C capacitor. you can pick one up at your local Fry's electronics, or get one on ebay for about one dollar. I know of 4 people now that have fixed their razer mako with this single capacitor being the only problem. TRUST ME, it's not the control pod, nothing to do with it, but the control pod does initiate the power start up, and this capacitor is faulty and works...sort of until complete failure. yet no visual sign of failure with oozing or leaking. it's just bad, along with ALL the capacitors on this board are from fujicon... absolute *******! make it a project and replace all of them if you want these awesome speakers to last forever. I decided to upgrade it all and bought high end audio caps from ELNA, NICHICON, PANASONIC and FROYLT. Sourced ALL of them on ebay. I'm not very tech savvy, it's NOT difficult to repair one cap on your own. A soldering iron (40watt min) some rosin core solder (thinnest guage is best), and solder wick is all you need. OH, and patience. check this link for more info. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cvlnyj5cmkdr8yl/7tNh8CsSAj#lh:null-Mako.jpg
I will plan on uploading info about my whole re-capping project, listing all my parts, prices and time involved. Also will post photos of before and after. :D DOOOOO NOT THROW YOUR SPEAKERS AWAY! 99cents is your fix! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON NEW SPEAKERS! Razer Mako's are amazing speakers, and with an upgrade of new caps, these bad boys are sure to be impressive!

I bought this Acer aspire 7535g laptop off of my mum's friend which was in great condition when I bought it. The sound was perfect. Every driver was up-to-date. However now... 8 months on, the sound...

You can try booting a live linux CD or thumbdrive and see if that gives you sound. That will give you an idea if it's Windows or a hardware problem. If it's a windows problem try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers. If that doesn't work keep searching around or just try a fresh install of windows.

Where can I get a new control pod from for razer mako 2.1. Or where can you get it fixed in the UK?

The solution is that there are two capacitors in the subwoofer amp that need replacing. A qualified electrical repair shop can do this easily for you. If they put it on the oscilloscope, you'll see that the issue is one of two caps :
Best solution is to replace both the capacitors. One capacitor is 47 uF/50V, and the other is capacitor is a 100 uF 35V.

Voltage (Voltage capacitors) must be of higher capacity, not lower. By putting in slightly bigger capacitors, it will more resilient to dirty power, which I believe is the reason why it went bad in the first place - put these on a proper power surge/filter to protect them.

My laptop speakers aren't working. A few days ago I kept receiving a pop-up from SigmaTel which would freeze my computer but the message stopped. Now my speakers stopped working completely.

Dell inspiron1525 laptop trouble

This is going to be a problem either with the sound card malfunctioning after the machine warms up, or feed back from the speakers due to a wiring issue. Either way, this is a hardware problem, and you shouldn't have this or any problem with the machine, especially with it only being 10 days old. Take it back for an exchange. Demand an exchange and don't let them give you the run around. When you get the new machine, you will see that you shouldn't have any problems with it for years to come. Also, don't let this bother you about Dell machines, they're one of the best machines on the market. Just like everything else, there are a few lemons.
