Hey, It is an IBM 6408CT band printer.

  • ray5369 Sep 08, 2010

I have a customer that has an IBM 6408cta printed that is missing a strip of print. About a 1/4" of print over near the left edge of the page. We went out and blew out/cleaned over there to make sure there was no chunk of paper obstructing the hammer in that area. It did not help.

Did this just start occuring, or has it always been this way? Some printers require a certain amount of unprintable space.
Otherwise, if it just started happening, I've read that the plastic holders on the printhead roller bar can crack or get worn, causing a lack of printing near the margins of the paper. Take a print of what it's doing and the printer in to a computer repair shop to see if they know a quick fix.
If they don't, get an estimate on a repair, since, depending on the printer type, age, etc., it may or may not be cost effective to have it repaired.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Hello there,

Could you please state the model and the manufacturer name of your printer? Have you tried resetting the printer settings to defaults by the way?

Hi sir, How to get print both side pages in canon lbp2900b.could please clarify.

The printer is only able to print on one side of the page at once.

In order to print on both sides you will need to print only 1 page. This is set on the left side window that comes up before you print. Select the option to print Page number 1.

Then once the page is printed, turn it typed side down heading first, back into the paper tray.

Now select to print Page number 2.

This process is called manual duplex printing, since the printer does not support automatic duplex printing.

Take care!

My hp deskjet 6940 inkjet printer doesn't show me level of ink in cartridge

Print a diagnostic page If the steps above have not helped, print and evaluate a diagnostic page to see if the cartridges or the printer is causing the problem.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and then press the Cancel button. Release both buttons. The diagnostic page prints. Figure 1: Power and Cancel buttonsc00584735.gif 1 - Cancel button 2 - Power button
Step 4: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the diagnostic page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Your diagnostic page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Figure 2: Diagnostic page layout (the patterns in each area may look slightly different on your page)c00584715.gif 1 - Printed by the right cartridge 2 - Printed by the left cartridge NOTE: If you are printing in reserve mode (one cartridge is missing), the missing cartridge's area of the diagnostic page will be blank. Step 5: Check ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another product, the ink level indicator is inaccurate or unavailable. Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with "E" (for "empty") and "F" (for "full") at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color. I have the hp 2640 half the right side of the page good but the left side is fain you can hardly see fade out form right to left side of the page

Most likely your print heads need to be cleaned. To do this go to start, devices and printers, right click on your printer and choose printing preferences, click on the color tab and at the bottom there will be an option that says printer services, click on this and click on clean cartridge. This should be all that you need to do! ;)

Change tray 1 to plain paper universal

print the network page to verify the printer is reporting the wrong size paper. this page is outlined by a box if it prints smaller than tne page or the bottom line of the box is missing you will know for sure.
pull the drawer out and see how many fingers are sticking out of the paper size snap in plate it should be the bottom 2 for letter.
if this is right there is a paper size pcb on the left side behind the logic pack replace it.

Print output on left hand side is missing

see if there is a local repair center, Sounds like the wiper on that side could be out of alignment. and hitting the drum early there for possibly wiping it before it has time to hit the paper and transfer it over.

When printing a large document - about 200 pages- I wish to print on both sides of the paper. I specify print "odd pages" in the hope that I can then turn over the printed sheets and print...

Two options 1. print one page at at time, ie one sid the the other or 2. print odd pages then turn over and print even pages. it is a little tricky but can be done. on print options select which pages to print separated by commas

Sounds like you have a torn/missed fixing film. look up over the fixing unit (the one that gets one) and try to find a gray tu, it should be complete, from left to right and not torn. no parts should be missing. if one border is like orange or missing then your problem is the fixing film.
