Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone

My new, two week old, iPhone 4 keeps presenting a notice "This accessory is not optimized for this phone". Forums says this is due to dust, some to liquids and some to bugs. I've tried resetting it from iTunes, restarted the phone and blown air into the charging dock. Please help me!

Since your iPhone 4 is 2 weeks old and you know that the problem is not due to dust, liquids or bugs, return it for a replacement.

You should not be experiencing any problems this early.

    Oh, sorry. Most pople want a solution ... From all that I'm reading, it has to do with moisture or dust. Do you have a screen protector ? That apparently can cause problems, also. Any changes to your iPhone at all before you received the error ?

It's no so clear when you get that message. There are two types, one when the earpiece (headset) is connected and another even without connecting anything.
If your case is the first one, then it will need some service including cleaning the interfaces both outside and inside, means you need to disassemble the unit.

If the message displays with out without headset or usb cable, then there's must be something wrong with the usb interface, first check the connectors (small pins) very carefully and verify that there's not twisted or bent pins among them, if so try your best to straighten them/it.

Now, for both, turn off the phone, remove the battery and sim card (remove the memory card if there's one), and take a soft brush dipped in alcohol/acetone/spirit clean all the contacts (tiny copper pins) may be internal or external whatever your eyes can catch. Clean them carefully, and leave them to dry, after you are sure that it's dried, reinstall/reinsert whatever you've removed and switch On again. If the problem does persists, I would suggest you to get it done from a Service Center, otherwise you may make mistakes and might damage it permanently. You'll need to disassemble it and check the continuity or short circuit inside.

It's also possible that there's software issue, but this is only possibility, i would suspect the hardware, if you got another spare (headset or usb cable), try with it, you may at least could find out what's the cause.

As mentioned above, it could also be the Headset or the usb cable, so you need to try with another headset or usb cable.

Since taking apart an Iphone is not easy and simple, I would highly recommend you to take it to a Service Center or mobile repairing center if the above tips doesn't help.

I believe so--you just need to select which sim you need --if you are getting the 4 series chose the standard size and if you are getting the 5 series than chose the nano--think the new 6 is keeping the nano

Why can I not make the BBC Radio app work on my iphone 4. It did work well for some months but now even when I have full strength signal on 3g via ee it simply hunts and will not start. Thanks Roger

(Just to be clear, this is the BBC Radio app, right? If your problem is the BBC News app, I may have a different suggestion.)

Do you have the latest version of the app? It appears that BBC Radio just updated the app a week ago on 31July2014 (Version 1.5.3), but it requires iOS 6.0 or later and is optimized for iPhone 5. I see you have an iPhone 4.

Do you have iOS 6 on your phone? And do you have the latest version of the app?

iOS 6 is supposedly completely compatible with iPhone 4s, and it is also supposedly compatible with iPhone 4 except iOS 6 on:
  • iPhone 4, does not support:
    • Siri
    • Maps flyover
    • Turn-by-turn navigation
    • FaceTime on 3G
    • Hearing aid support
So, it seems to me that this app should still work on your phone, unless you don't have the proper operating system or you haven't upgraded to the new version.

Do you prepare what gift on Christmas day? Present's children like the new science and technology electronic products. Newest issue's iphone4 has been certainly too expensive, we may choose cheap...

theres lots of stuff on sale at radioshack.... just dont get angry at the sales associate/ stonewall them if they sell you on batteries..... if its on sale besides the buy 2 get to free.. grab them or buy the 4 packs for 10 and return it after 2 weeks you save a enployees job plus you get your money back returning it

Keep gettin pop ups on my screen saying! this accessory is not optimised for this iphone you may experience difficulty noise etc as if its plugged into sumthing that doesnt support iphone~ loosing...

Sure, which ever accessory you are trying to use with your iPhone is not compatible. As Apple releases new products, many of their older accessories become not compatible with the new models. Sadly, you will most likely have to replace your old accessory so it works on this version of the iPhone.

You must be using an accessory that is not an official Apple accessory. Just dismiss the pop-up and continue using it if it functions properly.

I keep getting a very annoying message saying 'this accessory is not optimized for this iphone' It comes up every 1 minute or so and doesnt go away even when I reset the software to factory settings

there is a problem with your 30 pin dock connector it seems to think there is an unauthorized accessory plugged in if your phone is under warranty contact apple to have it replaced if not find a local repair shop

4 weeks ago my 3g iphone went warm & switched off.I could not restart it,so took it for repair.I was told that if I paid £139,it would be repaired.The phone is less than a year old & has not...

well if it is less that year old, go to apple directly and it will be fixed for free... their manufacturer's warranty last for a year...
