Question about Magic Stitch Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

A vintage 'Magic Stitcher' is for sale on Ebay and Etsy. I have one without the instruction booklet. I really would like to find out what the instructions say about using it. It is a little thing about 6 inches long...kind of like a bullet shape..pointed on the end where you fasten a sewing machine needle. It does a 'chain stitch'...but how? There is a picture of it on the top of the box it came in...and shows sewing a chain stitch from the top of the fabric. I have been sewing for about 60 years....and never saw one of these before now. I found it at a thrift shop. Thank you.

Hi, I found this blog. It sort of shows the instructions. I found one of them in a box of old sewing things from a friend. I thought it was an old fishing bobber LOL. Hope this helps.J.Leigh

Looking for a downloadable copy of a Pink Atlas sewing machine instruction manual. Any ideas?

I found a threading diagram for the Atlas sewing machine here: http://possumjimandelizabeth.com/xhtml/collect_sewing_atlas-thread.html . I found one manual for the Atlas Selectomatic for sale on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/158109125/pink-atlas-selectomatic-sewing-machine?ref=shop_home_active . (This person had another Atlas manual on Etsy but that has sold.)

Pictures of the pages of the manual for one machine are here:http://ataleoftwoquilters.blogspot.com/2014/01/atlas-sewing-machine-manual.html .

I hope this helps.

What is the going selling cost of a Singer, model # 1019 machine?

You would need to search for recent sales or current sales (ie eBay, etsy...) to make that determination. There is a lot involved in determining value, ie the working and visual condition of the machine, accessories included, where it's located, etc. FWIW, newer Singers are probably not worth a lot in resale. New machines can be purchased for less than $100.

Instructions for singer stylist 833

The instruction manual is available through Singer for $15. But I bet you can find it less expensively on Etsy or Ebay.

Here's a threading guide.

Where can I get memory cards for my Janome 9000

I own the MC9000. I bought the Magic Box plus and I download designs from embroidery websites and transfer them to the memory card (ATA PC card) that came with the Magic Box. It is rewritable so I just switch out designs as I please. I bought the Magic Box about 5 years ago and paid $200 for it. It is super easy to use. I hope this helps.

HI,I have just obtained an old Empisal machine,it has on top of the machine,a lid that opens and then you insert a funny round disk ,that actually sets the stitch ,I have never seen abything like this

This was pretty common in the mid-to-late 60s. Those cogs are still found sometimes online... like at etsy, ebay.bonanza. Congrats... you learned what we did before the advent of computerized machines. (before that we actually embroidered and decorative stitched by hand!!)
