Re: my plasma tv powers up and then shuts off
There is some component(s) on one of the boards that is causing too high a current pull, or the power supply itself is failing. This has to be verified by the tech. He will do board substitution to locate the bad circuit board.

A component in the TV is failing and is not receiving correct voltage, which is causing the TV to enter " protection mode" and shut off. Could be any part of the TV but I would start with the power supply and go from there.

The power supply board have problems,it not giving the tv the right votage anymore. That why it shutting down, not sustancening power to the tv anymore. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power board for the replacement.
I don't know but I'm having a similar problem. I have a plasma
TH-50PZ77U. It will run for a while and then shuts off. Also, the volume goes up and up and then it shuts off at times. Like I have a ghost here. I had both of my sat. recievers replaced. It seems to get worse over time with shut down. I called panasonic and they had no info and denied this was an issue but I beg to differ from my research here online. It's only a few years and we paid lots of $$$. They gave me a # for service 1 hour away!
Yes, you have power supply issue. the power on circuit is malfunctioning and the flashes is the indication that the voltage levels for the power on regulation is not correct therefore shut down to protect the circuit from further damage. You TV unit needs servicing by an plasma TV specialist. Also check to see if you do not have the TV in sleep or hibernation mode.
