If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I have a kenmore 600 series dryer that runs but does not heat up. I assume that the heating element is bad. Would that be a good assumption?

600 series gas drier runs but no heat

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Runs but doesn't get hot

You will need to check the heating coils, if electric model or the gas burner , self igniting which can be faulty or block in the pipes..
Please remove to have access to the set to check these parts out which can be the culprit.

I have an kenmore 600 series clothes dryer. It's about 1.5 years old. The dryer tumbles. gas and electric are on but no heat.

It is most likely the element if it is an electric dryer. If it is a gas dryer be sure that the pilot light is on for the gas at the valve. Also this machine is most likely under warranty so check it out.
I am 90 % sure that is an electric dryer so I would check to see that one of your breakers for the dryer are not tripped as one can run the dryer but it needs two to get the heat running as it runs on 220 volt.

My kenmore 600 gas dryer dont heat up. gas is on electricity its fine it turn on it works fine but just not heats up.

Disconnect the rear vent off the dryer itself and try again. If heat does work the vent tubing is clogged
