Question about Crosley Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Crosley 54cp41 C102 Tv that doesn't want to power up. I was wondering what the possible causes might be. The TV on button blinks when clicking the power button but shuts off right away.

On the TV it has a high power transformer should I take the leads off of that and see it the controls come up. Or what would be a good place to start. Could the Transformer be the short?

The power source starts when you press the button, detects a massive failure/short on one of its outputs and immediately shuts down to protect itself. You need to open the tv and test the source to find out what output failed and where. A good experience is required, this isn't a job for a beginner. If this is your case then call a repair guy, it will be cheaper than you messing with it and frying even more components by accident.

Yes, taking the power from the high tension transformer is the first step in testing - nothing must remain connected to the 120 volts line . If the transformer or the horizontal deflection transistor or the flyback transformet are faulty the leaving them out will allow the tv to start - at least the logic/control and the tuner should work; you may even get sound.

Hi, i have recently borrowed a magnavox tv from my uncle. he lost the remote and the one for all remote i have is apparently old. the # is URC 3220. I was wondering if you could help me with receiving the...

There are 5 different codes for Magnavox.
0054, 0706, 0030, 1454, 1254.
If you need instructions, here they are. Press and releaseTV. Press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice. (the first blink doesn't count. wait a few seconds) Release the SET button, and enter one of the 4 digit code. The LED should blink twice again. Aim the remote at your TV and press POWER. Keep trying until you find the right code.

Need IR code for Hisense 32" LCD tv to program

Are you referring to the iPhone/iPad app? if yes then this is not a remote app, it's a management app made for Comcast boxes and nothing else it doesn't controls tv's.
If you are referring to the actual remote for one of the Comcast boxes then it all depends on what model of remote you have and the exact model of your tv - some will support it thru the use of a Daewoo or Samsung code, others don't.
So you have 2 options:
1 - you try every Daewoo and Samsung code you have in the manual and if that fails you do a code scan on the remote as explained in the manual:
Turn on your TV
Press the TV button on the top of the remote, then press and hold Setup until the TV light blinks twice
Enter 9-9-1 and the TV button will blink twice
Press and release 1 and the TV button will blink twice
Point the remote at the TV, press and release the Power button, then press the CH+ button multiple times until the TV turns off
Press Setup once to lock in the code and the TV button will blink twice
If even that fails - the tv doesn't shuts down - then the remote is incompatible to the tv so
2 - you get a remote that is compatible with both. The only one i could find is

Phillips TV with no on screen menu, only Caption, Text and Sleep. bought TV's from factory auction. PA5032-C102. or 32R505-00BB.

The OSD (on screen menu) is locked. Those two serials (not models) are for two completely different tv's: the first is for an very old standard 32 inch CRT and the second for an old plasma.
To unlock it in the first tv you need to just press the menu button for 10 seconds. For the second tv you must start the tv and immediately press both the menu and channel up buttons for 5 seconds.

If you are having some problems with your Sony Television, then this post is for you. Generally speaking, when there is trouble with your Sony Television set -- it indicates the issue in either the diagnostic mode, or even more commonly by flashing a series of LED blinks or flashes on the front of your television. Each set or frequency of the blinks indicates a very specific problem with the television itself. In some cases, you may be able to repair the television set yourself -- or in the worst case you may need to order parts, call a local repair shop to the have a repairman sent out, or even purchase a new television set.

First off, here are the list of codes and what they generally mean on my set (which applies to many recent model Sony Television sets. Sony has provided a "self-diagnosis function" with your TV, that in the case of abnormalities or problems the LED or red blinking light on the Timer/Standby indicator flashes a number of times to indicate the issue. Here are the values of the various blinks.

* 0 times, Diagnosis: Power does not turn on. Possible causes include: Power cord is not plugged in, Fuse is burned out (F6001) (G board). Symptoms of the problem: Power does not come on, No power is supplied to the unit, AC power supply is faulty.
* 2 times, Diagnosis: B overcurrent (OCP). Possible causes: H. OUT (Q8024) is shorted. (D board), +B PWM (Q8035, 8038) is shorted. (D board) Symptoms of the problem: Power does not come on, Load on power line is shorted.
* 3 times, Diagnosis: +B overvoltage (OVP). Possible causes: IC501 is faulty (G board), IC5002 is faulty (G board). Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby mode.
* 4 times, Diagnosis: Vertical deflection stopped. Possible causes: +- 15V is not supplied. (D board), IC8003 is faulty. (A board) Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby state after horizontal raster, Vertical deflection pulse is stopped, Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped.
* 5 times, Diagnosis: White balance failure (Not balanced) Possible causes: Video out (IC7101, 7201, 7301) is faulty (CR, CG, CB board), CRT drive (IC309) is faulty (A board), G2 is improperly adjusted. Symptoms of the problem: No raster is generated, CRT cathode current detection reference pulse output is small.
* 6 times, Diagnosis: LOW B OCP/OVP (Overcurrent/over voltage). Possible causes: +5 line is overloaded. (A, B boards), +5 line is shorted. (A, B boards). Symptoms of the problem: No picture.
* 7 times, Diagnosis: Horizontal deflection stopped. Possible cause: Q8035, 8038 is shorted. (D board)
* 8 times, Diagnosis: High voltage error. Possible cause: T8005 is faulty. (D board)
* 9 times, Diagnosis: Audio error. Possible causes: +- 19V line is shorted. (A, B boards), IC708 is faulty. (A board), PS701 or PS702 is opened. (A board). Symptoms of the problem: No sound

If you would like to attempt a DIY, you will need a service manual to guide you. You can find one here:
http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

However, be aware that there are voltages inside your TV set that can kill, even if unplugged.
