My friend dropped my PV-L501D

My friend dropped my PV-L501D camcorder and now when I press the record button nothing happens. I see an image and menu button works . Seem like the cassette door wants to open when I try to record .Any ideas

Most likely there is mechanical damage, and very possible that a circuit board can be cracked. The unit would have to be sent for service.
