Question about Copystar - CS-3035 Printer

1 Answer

I have documents with print very close to the right and left edges of the page. When scanning, the print along one edge of the page is cut off. How can I set up the scanning function to include ALL the information on the page?

This is fine for copying, but my question was for scanning.

  • drjeffw Sep 08, 2010

Yes, I can see how I can change the margins to make photocopies. But I think we have confusion. I'm not trying to make copies. I'm trying to make an electronic PDF file with the machine using the "Scanning" function, not the 'Copier' function. Currently, the PDF files do not show the print on the extreme left hand margin of the original. Can we change the margins for making scan files, or are the margins limited by the mechanics of the document feeder?

  • drjeffw Sep 08, 2010

I am scanning the document with my CS-3035, and a .pdf file is created automatically and sent to folder on my computer. Maybe I can have the scanned image converted to a different file type that won't cut off the margins?

  • drjeffw Sep 08, 2010

Ok, i would like to change the document type that the scanner sends to my computer. How do I 'scan it into MS word'?

Hi you can use xy zoom mode With this mode, it is possible for you to select the length and width of the copy image separately. The magnification ratio can be set to any 1% increment between 25% and 400% 1, Set the originals to be copied 2,Touch the “Reduce/Enlarge” key. The “Reduce/Enlarge” screen will be displayed 3,Touch the “XY Zoom” key. The screen to select the magnification ratio will be displayed in Inch specifications 4,Touch the “+” key or the “-” key, as appropriate, specify the desired magnification ratio for the width and then the length of the image. It is also possible for you to enter the desired ratio directly by touching the corresponding “# keys” [“#-Keys”] key and then using the keypad 5,Touch the appropriate key on the right side of the touch panel to specify the direction in which the original was set 6,Press the [Start] key to begin the copying procedure and you then should have all the original print on the paper as per copy, if you still have problems come back to me..hope this helps

it is for copying...that's why it says "originals" you do all this before you copy the originals, not after..

Set the originals to be copied= set the page you want to be scanned, if you read it it makes perfect sense, you can reduce the "original" by 1% increments, this will get the whole of the print on the page, you have to realise that there is a scan margin as well,Set originals so that the top edge is facing either the back or the left of the copier. Setting them in the wrong direction may cause the margin to be created in the incorrect position.

Touch the “Function” tab. The content of the “Function” tab will be displayed.3 Touch the “Margin/Centering” [“Margin/Imag.shift”] key.The “Margin/Centering” [“Margin/Image shift”] screen will be displayed Touch the “Margin” key. The screen to set the front side margin will be displayed.Use the up/down and left/right cursor keys to select the desired location and width of each margin If you are making 2-sided copies, touch the “Back page margin” key. The “Back page margin” screen will be displayed, If you want to create a margin on the back side of the copies that lines up with that on the front side, touch the “Auto” key.If you want to set the margins for the front and back sides
separately, touch the “Front/Back margin” key. The screen to set the back side margin will be displayed Use the up/down and left/right cursor keys to select the desired location and width of each margin.Follow the instructions on the right side of the touch panel and verify the direction in which the originals were set If the designation for the direction that the originals are set is not correct, copying may be accomplished incorrectly Press the [Start] key. Copying will start, that should cure your problem...........

ok..i got to clarify this with you, you create a .pdf file and when it is printed out you loose some of the text either side of the printed document?, is this document scanned from your printer into the computer then converted into a .pdf? or are you trying to scan+convert+print from the printer to?

ok, here is what i would do personally you can take my advice or not i personally use either Ms word or Ms Publisher to scan my documents into, then i use PDFCreator, which you can download for free, to then convert nearly all .doc types or anything like that to pdf if that is what you need to do, but best to scan into a normal document then set your borders, it does sound like that the scanner is restricting you to a certain size area which you will have to work to, at least if you set the borders up in the main document you can see before printing what it will turn out like before hand.

this will depend on what version of word you have as they removed the add file from scanner or camera from the 2007 version, however publisher does still have this, if you have an older version of word you should be able to goto insert, then choose picture, then get from scanner or camera, then point it to your scanner, or the program that runs the scanner part of the printer

Black vertical line when copying a book page.no light leaks.

If it is along the edge of the print, it may be the edge of the book page you are seeing. if it is going through the text of the page, your scan carriage is likely skipping. If you don't see this on copies of single sheets of paper laid on the glass, then the weight of the book may be deforming the glass enough to catch the scan carriage as it passes. If you see it on single copied sheets, there is probably something on one of the scan rails under the glass that the carriage is "hopping" over as it passes. You could try watching the scan carriage move while holding the lid open to see if the carriage "hops" once during a scan.

Can Lexmark x2470 scan and print a double sided document?

after reading the manual, http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2400/ug_en.pdf, yes it is possible - not that it tells you how to do it though so read on.
Until you become familiar with the process just use one sheet of paper at a time in the printer.
As you know, in the scanner the top right of your document goes to the right hand front corner of the scan bed (the clear window), place the page on the scanner and scan.
Pick up the printed sheet of paper and flip it so the left hand side edge is now in your right hand and the right hand edge is now in your left hand and you are now looking at the blank side of the paper.
Insert the page back into the sheetfeeder.
Flip the page to copy in the scanner so the rearmost edge of the paper is now to the front of the scan bed and the front edge of the paper is now towards the rear (you should now be looking at the page you scanned previously).
Scan the page.
you should have now scanned both sides of one sheet of paper to another sheet of paper.
as your printer does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner you have to do the process manually. hope this helps.

Broad dark line on right edge of copied papers

If you have the black line on copies and scans but printing from P.C is fine, then your scanner is broken.

Contact your printer manufacturer for a replacement or repair.

Printer does not print whole document

In 'Print Preview' look at the margins, and see if anything is too close to the edge of the paper. If it is, then set your margins further from the edge, or drag graphics further from the edge, etc.

To correct the margins that are set to close to the edge of the paper, open the document in Microsoft Word and follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that you are using the same printer driver that gave you the error in Microsoft Word Viewer.
  2. In Word, on the File menu, click Page Setup.
  3. Click OK.

You receive a warning dialog box about the unprintable regions.
  4. Click the Fix button.
  5. Save and close the document.
You can now open and print the document in Word Viewer without receiving the error message.

Print margins too large on Xerox DocuColor 12 - How do I reset?

Not sure this is what your needing but ,,

The Edge Erase default setting is No Erase, which enables the copies to print within 2 mm of each page edge. This is normally sufficient to remove shadows from the edges. If the dark edge is closer than 2 mm, you must set Edge Erase at Variable Erase.

The Variable Erase option enables the copier / printer to vary the amount of erasure from 0 to 50 mm in 1 mm increments. The same amount of erasure is applied to both top and bottom edges or right and left edges of the document.

  1. Select [Edge Erase] on the Added Features tab. The Edge Erase screen is displayed.
  2. Select [Variable Erase]. The Variable Erase screen is displayed.
  3. Under Top & Bottom Edges, use the [Up] arrow to increase the amount of erasure at the top and bottom edges. Use the [Down] arrow to decrease the amount of erasure at the top and bottom edges.
  4. Under Left & Right Edges, use the [Up] arrow to increase the amount of erasure at the left and right edges. Use the [Down] arrow to decrease the amount of erasure at the left and right edges.
  5. Under Original Orientation select the page orientation that most closely resembles the orientation of the document on the Document Glass.
  6. Select [Save]. The Edge Erase screen is displayed.
  7. Select [Save]. The Added Features tab is displayed and shows the new Edge Erase values.

Lines along edge of paper

1 of 3 things I can think of off top of my head.
Since they are straight, I would suspect the transfer unit.
If it were just one color it would be that imaging unit.
Unlikely the fuser.
It doesn't sound line an issue called bar coding ,where the machine prints random lines. That would be a software issue.
Take the transfer unit out and inspect it for the marks.
I am assuming the streaks are on all colors correct?
If it isn't on the transfer belt, and on all colors check the fuser and see if its latched.
