How high do you want to swing? 30 or 40 feet high enough. Clip every diode you see including the surface mount ones. This mod will give you big swing.

Hell No!! You don\'t want to "clip" anything. Here are some adjustments for this radio. I personally like to turn the power up on my radios and put better components in them. I recommend the rfx75 amplifier from magnum radios. As far as receive goes I turn the squelch and rf gain up internally and add the super ears mod. Most of the stock components in these radios are cheap. I like to read the schematic diagram to figure out what does what and replace the factory resisters with top grade components. You would be amazed at the difference when you use good components as opposed to factory installed.

How to increase the power out put of my 148 gtl-dx cobra to up to 5watts ?

clip diode D11..Turn coil ferrites near finals it will numbered like say: L10,L20,L14 or something etc. It should already factory go like 3 watts to 10 watts on a real out meter. The radio meter is a simulated but not accurate meter read. But crank ferrite coils until meter reaches 5 watts on radio meter..and lock it down there OK.

Best modulation for PC68XL

Most Cobra / Unidens are easy by clipping D9. On this one D9 and L19. Just turn up L19 to top. Clip D9 diode. spread coils 1/16" inch. Also use 100uf capacitor (-) toward final across JUMPER staple near Final Transistor in back. Use meter(adjust to best swing) spread back coils, remove L10,L20 slugs or adjust them to top. The only radio that clips different than D9 is Cobra 29Ltd (D11) or Uniden pro510xl(D14).

Could u please tell me if i have to adjust the fuel ststem on my yamaha xvs v star 03 after installing jardine slash cuts whitch do have a baffle

Yes , to get rid of the flat spot that you get from opening up the exhaust system, you will have to put in a jet kit. Cobra and Dyna Jet make make good kits for $60 to $100. Another product replaced at this time is the air filter. A K&N air filter will create more air for better breathing.

I have wtmc 3300 and I am trying to change which way the door swings. I am having a hard time removing the plastic latch without breaking it. Is there a trick?

There is a metal clip which is what gives the plastic latch the strength to hold the door clip when pushed in - this is what the hangup is.
There are plastic tabs on the top and bottom which pop out easily, but the metal tabs on the sides have wings that stop the clip from pulling out - so you either have to use a small flat screwdriver to hook the wings to pull past the metal hole it's pushed into (slowly toggling between sides) - or remove the control panel and squeeze the clip with pliers from the rear (inside).
I've just done this moments ago - however, I was stopped when I now realize the hinge doesn't mirror and thus I guess a "reverse" kit is needed - unfortunately nobody seems to have knowledge of such a kit... does anyone else know if a reverse kit is available?

I have a DX929,with after-market upgrades including super Mod/swing kit 2w dead key swing to 37,Turbo echo Board ( Pro-trucker TRB1) it has a Mosfet final,it has Receiving an Mod. upgrades. My radio has...

Check Q37 (2SA473) a large TO 220 case style Transistor on the right side of the board when looking at the component side with the front of the radio facing you.
Also check D73 (7.3 volt zener diode) Q35 (2SC945), and D72 (MA27 W-A Diode).

Tr51 gets hot

Do you have a "swing kit" or a "swing diode" installed?
This could also be called an NPC ("Negative Peak Clipping") Modification. There should be a 1/2 watt 100 ohm resistor attached on the unbanded end of the diode. If it is a "Kit", It will not have a 100 ohm resistor and can cause TR51 to overheat during long transmissions.
You may want to remove the diode or kit if you have one in there and, as a better choice, change R238 (near VR13) to a 220K ohm resistor.
That will give you Killer loud audio with a stock mic. You probably won't be able to use a pre-amp (Power) mic after changing R238 to a 220k ohm.Back down the carrier power to 3 watts and watch the modulation get violent!

Cobra 29 classic "swing kit" ?

A swing kit is nothing more then a Cap and a resistor. There really isn't a different way to do a swing kit, unless you do variable power, which you don't need unless you are going to run a linear, and even then you can just set the dead key with a swing kit.

you need a watt meter, preferably one that reads peak and average watts. If not, average will be find.

Open the bottom cover of the radio. Hook the radio up to the watt meter, use a dummy load or have it hooked to the antenna. Never key the radio with an antenna or a dummy load.

Find VR4. Its toward the back right of the radio. Turn it all the way to the left. That increases your modulation.

Next find L14. it is at the back in front of the final resistor. While making a steady sound into the radio, just make an ahhhhhhh noise. Back the slug out of the tank until the needle hits peak. Don't move it out any more or you will over bias the final.

Now you will need a 220 uf electrolytic cap, and a 100 ohm 1/2 watt resistor, both of which you can get from radio shack. (this is your swing kit.

To the right of the tank slug is a jumper maked JP36. Us soldering wick to remove the solder and pull out the jumper. Now put the cap in it with the stripe facing the back of the radio.(that is very important. the other way you will blow the radio.) Solder it in place and cut the extra leads off. Now on the back of the board were you soldered in the cap, solder the 100 ohm resistor in between the 2 points.

The amount of resistance determines you dead key. you will be at about a 2 watt dead key which is good for swing and if you want to run a linear. The higher the resistor the lower the dead key, and the lower the cap, the higher the dead key.

That is your basic peak and tune with a swing kit.

I need easy instructions how to replace a swing plate assy, that is the gear that drives the fuser, yes?

Yes the swing plate assembly drives the fuser. There are other causes if you have lost fuser drive or are getting a grinding noise from the back of the printer. One cause is the blue plastic clips that hold the fuser in. One thing to check, looking at the back of your printer. Open the back door and turn the printer off then back on. Look at the left side as viewed from the back and see if the fuser "pops out" a bit when it starts to run. Try pushing in on the fusing unit on that side if this happens. If the noise goes away that blue clip on the left side is broken. I have seen this numerous times on this model.
As for the swing plate assembly.....that is quite a job and I doubt if anyone can type up instructions. You can find these online in kit form that have instructions included. Just Google search 4350 swing plate and you will find them.
Good Luck
