It is possible, but you'll need the Windows Vista and you should know how to install windows (in your case, windows vista) If you are doing it yourself, you can follow this instructions (click here).

But I don't recommend doing it yourself if you are not good at it, you may damage or if you mess it up, the engineer will charge you more fee (it's usual in India).

There are many Toshiba Service Center in Mumbai and you know there are also many private engineers available in Mumbai (Pickup or Onsite visit).

One of the recommended service center is (click here)

Or you can use this website to locate all Toshiba Service Centers in Mumbai (Toshiba India), open the link, select State as Maharashtra and City as Mumbai and click "Go" all the available Toshiba Service Centers will be displayed with their full contact details including addresses and phone numbers.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

When you purchased your laptop, you got a system disk. If you put that disk in and boot the computer, you will be able to restore the computer to it's factory condition.
One wonders why you would prefer Vista over Windows 7. I would strongly advise against that unless you installed Windows 7 on an older Toshiba that doesn't have full Windows 7 capability.

I have had windows7 installed on my computer and want to refer back to vista without a reboot disc, could you possibly help me to do this. many thanks.

Hi

Depending on how you upgraded from Vista to Win 7:

My Computer > Local C: > look for Windows Old and double click on it.

This will give you access to all the files and maybe even some programs you had in Vista.

However, to be able to use both Vista and Win 7 on the same computer, they need to be installed on separate partitions, then on booting you will get an option, controllable with the arrows on your keyboard as to which operating system you boot into.

If You did not install them on separate partions, you cannot 'use' Vista any more because althoughit is possible to upgrade operating systems, it is not possible to downgrade them. So once Vista has been upgraded to Win 7, unfortunately there is no way back to just Vista again unless you back everything up to an external storage device and start all over again with fresh installations.

I hope this helps.

* It is not necessary to back up ur data. U can simply run the Windows 7 upgrade, it will not delete ur files and folders. It will only replace the windows and system files.

** If u want to back up ur data then simply copy ur all data to another partition except C drive (System Drive) and then install a fresh copy of windows 7 and by format only c partition.

*** If there is only a single partition, then simply copy all your necessary data to CD/DVD aur pen drive aur any external hard drive and install a fresh copy.

**** U can also use Partition Magic to make two partition by cutting some space from C drive in case of only one partition.

In regards to upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 the thing to look at is how long were you running Windows Vista before you did the upgrade.

Normally you would need to reinstall a few driver just because Windows 7 has a different kernel then Vista does but alot of times you are reinstalling the same drivers.

Normally when you are having the problems that you are having this is a sign that you had some problems in Windows before doing the upgrade. This is why in general when doing an upgrade it is good idea to do a full reinstall of the OS with your upgrade. Note with manfactured computers like your notebook what you should do is back your data then do a factory restore of your Windows Vista. After the restore you will have a clean base to do your upgrade on so Windows 7 should run fine.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Windows 7 is designed for latest hardware and the Laptop you are using is quite an old. We will face compatibility issues.

I suggest you to run a Compatibility Advisor to know which Windows 7 version is compatible for your Notebook.

Advisor Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Install the suggested version using an upgrade Disk. If you use retail version, you will face the driver compatibility issues.

All windows 7 driver will not available. But, you can use Vista driver for Windows 7 if it is installed using an upgrade disk

Instaling windows 7 in vaio laptop have vista orginal windows how solving the problem in instaling windows 7?

if your system came with vista originally the issue would be is you would need to know what version of vista you have on your system, the version makes the difference if you have vista home premium then your windows 7 should be a win7 Home premium as well, because if you are upgrading vista using your win7 disc and your windows version are different for example you have vista Home premium and your win7 is win7 ultimate and you do an upgrade the problem will be your product key,

but if you have a retail version of win7 and you are installing it on your laptop Vaio insert the disc in the DVD-drive win7 needs a DVD reader to be able to install win7 if you have a cd-rom it wont work, then turn the laptop off power it back up keep on tapping f12 it should bring you a boot menu, select ODD or which ever is your dvd drive then press enter then enter again if it says on the screen press any key to boot to CD, this should begin win7 installation on the screen saying windows is loading files the so on ans so fort ^_^ this will over write everything in vista but in win7 it will still create a windows.old folder from vista only from the my documents folder my picture and my music and my video and desktop Items but remember application icons will not work on win7 you may need to reinstall the program again for it to work on win7 and yeah make sure that you choose custom/advance in the selection screen do no select upgrade unless you vista and win7 are the same version eg. Vista Home premium / Win7 Home premium ^_^

I have a ACEer 5315 model no ICL50 running Windows Vista. To say Vista is **** is an understatement. I want to switch to Windows 7 but guess I will need a lot more RAM for this. Can I upgrade Ram on this...

Hi,
I recommend that you switch to Windows 7 without upgrading your RAM. Windows 7 is a lot faster, better and uses less RAM than Vista. Recommended RAM for running Windows 7 is 1GB but I have installed them on a Centrino 1.5GHz with 768Mb of RAM and they run perfectly.
So make the upgrade to Windows 7 anyway and if you feel that you need more power then you can get more RAM.
Also, download Windows 7 upgrade advisor to check if your pc is compatible. Download upgrade advisor here.
