My 2001FP shows the contrast cotrol greyed out and the screen has very low contrast, which I need to correct. I use it with a Dell Inspion 9300. The laptop screen has excellent contrast. The 2001FP...

I have four Dell 2001FP monitors. The unavailable contrast is standard for this monitor when used with digital input (DVI). Make sure your brightness is at 100%.If you want a better result of dynamic range and color, the only effective option is color calibration. I use the inexpensive Huey Pro, available
several places, including eBay. Retail is around $100. It something one uses maybe twice a year, takes five minutes to install and use, and the results are notable. I'm a designer, and need excellent color. This is the best solution. Calibrate your laptop as well, and the color should be almost exactly the same between them.

As an alternative, you can use the color settings, select User Preset, and start with something around 40 red 43 green and 37 blue. Adjust proportionately upward until you get what you want.

Another possibility is to use a different connector cable if your laptop has that option, since your monitor an take four different input formats.

Good luck.

Contrast 100 box

That would be the monitor and not the PC. try going to menu on the monitor and doing a factory reset.....if that doesn't work unplug for 3mins and try agin....if neither work then your monitor is faulty. Hope this works out for ya

Desktop is continuing to display contrast as 100

Dear mahendra

Welcome to Fixya Customer support

This is common problem observed in many monitors compaq,HP,IBM this is happens mainly in rainy season due to moisture,by this moisture monitor botton circuit get rust inside and button pad remain pressed. so it shows a strip at the middle of monitor like contrast or brightness. So this is minor problem just replace the monitor display control button sensor or circuit. It deffinately solves your problem.

Good Luck

Contrast 10My problem is that the contrast is appearing in the screen of my flat screen and automatic decrees the contrast and it?s blocking the center part of the screen window keeps appearing on scr

There is no feasible way to fix this. The problem is a short in the circuitry of your flat screen. If the monitor is off warranty, it's cheaper to replace the monitor than to have it repaired.

Contrast 100 window keeps appearing on screen

try to use the monitor menu button and do a factory reset, it should take care. try to unplug the monitor cable from the tower you will get monitor self test if its good then the problem is not with the monitor it should be the problem with the tower.

Adjusting contrast

Hello Tcwills, contrast settings are a feature of your display (not the PC). Laptops will have contrast controls as their display is built in.

Gateway FPD2275W 22-inch Widescreen High-Definition LCD Display model # 7010756R. Has display problem-the images are appears dim and can't brighetn. I don't know what to do

there should be a button on the display to bring up the options or menu which you need to look for brightness/contrast if these are both at setting 100 your backlighting CCFL tubes (cold cathode flourescent) like flourescent bulbs in the ceiling are burning out slowly they can be replaced but it is not a common repair for a local computer store you may neeed to find a specialist.

Display menu virus? :(

try disconnecting your network cable and adjust the settings again, if you cant, enter safe mode by pressing f8 in the startup and select safemode then adjust the contrast there.

Or is this in the CRT monitor? inside the monitor? there are no viruses ever made for monitors. So its most likely a hardware fault in the crt. Maybe its time to buy a new one. LCD preferably easyer on your eyes.
