Have you checked the air filter? Look at the filter and hold up to sunlight if you can't see the light thru the filter then replace.

Didn't winterize my Husquarna 21 hp Kohler riding lawnmower last year.

Dave, grab some gun out or any old carburetor cleaner... remove spark plug, spray a few squirts into the hole then reinstall the plug. Now go to the carburetor, spray some into it as well....

Try starting it , if it starts and runs for a matter of seconds then your carburetor needs to be serviced...and THAT you can do yourself...trust me. If you need help on how to do it, I will send you a link for a you tube video.

Mower will not start after changing the battery out and checking all connectioncs

U could try to use some starting fluid spray into carb and have someone crank it right away But first do you have fresh gas in the tractor if not I would drain and fill tank with fresh gas. Also I always change my spark plugs at the beginning of the season,

19.5hp 42" will barely turn over when spark plug is in when I take it out it spins over just fine. What do I look for next?

Have the battery load tested. Autozone like stores do this for free. If the battery passes the load test, then check all of the electrical connections from the battery terminals tomtje starter (including the solenoid). the most likely problem os that you have a voltage drop on the circuit there. Google voltage drop test. If you are certain that your connections are ok, check again. Nothing loose or dirty/corroded/rusted/frayed. If it really is ok then get the started checked at the parts store. It is probably a poor connection somewhere.

Poulan Pro riding lawnmower 42" 18.5 hp 6 speed It mowed fine. Would not start when I wanted to mow again. Turns starter a little, but not enough to start. Recharged battery--same condition existed. ...

Replace the battery. Even though the battery may say it's good, it doesn't have enough of cranking amps. Go purchase a battery with 350 cranking amps. This will fix your problem. The battery power isn't enough to kick the starter completely up to turn the engine.

My craftsman riding lawnmower cranks over strong but will not start

Do you have spark? There are two things to look for when any engine won't start....fuel & spark, Take your plug out and lean it up against the metal of engine...turn it over and see if you see a good blueish spark.

No spark? Could be the plug, safety switch, coil

Next squirt a little gas into spark plug hole, replace the plug...will it fire up? If so...start working your way back down the fuel system....carburetor, fuel lines, fuel filter and gas (is gas old or new? is there any water in it?)

try that...www.nnyparts.com

I have changed the battery yet it still won't start. It just keeps trying to fire but wont.

So it will sputter but won't start. You will need to remove and clean the carb. It is partly clogged and just letting eough gas through for it to sputter but not start. Or you can try a new spark plug somtimes that will make it act like that to.

Mower will not start

Hi
Take the spark plug out and pour a little bit of oil in the cylinder and crank it over without the spark plug in. Make sure ground wire is clean on both ends.

Dropped / Stuck valve?

Major Overheat?

Battery weak (understand it is fully charged... but is it delivering proper amperage under load?)

bad connections betwixt battery and solenoid, then solenoid to starter?

Weak starter motor?
