Could also be a water temp problem. If the water isn't hot enough the dishwasher will run longer as it has to heat the water. This could be your water heater turned down too low or the heating element in the dishwasher isn't working properly.

i looked up the error codes I was getting and it appeared to be a thermostat issue that looked like it could be reset but the same problem kept happening. I eventually changed the dishwasher out with another brand.

Bosch Series 6 Tap error symbol lit but pump and drain hose are fine. What can it be?

That normally signifies a leak. Under the machine there is a plastic pan with a sensor in it. However Bosch have a different idea.

Kenmore 13789 draining/cleaning issues

Check your wash arms - make sure the holes or nozzels are clear (not blocked), and make sure they are free to turn. Make sure you are not over-loading the dishwasher or placing large plates or pans in front of the soap dispenser. Next is to check to see if enough water is going into the DishWasher (DW). This varies with different models, so it's hard to tell you how much is enough. Next thing to check is to make sure the heater is working to heat the water during the wash cycle. (Listen for the soap dish to open, then open the door 10 or 15 minutes later and see if the water is hot.) If your dishwasher has a removable filter, you need to take that out and clean it at least once a month. And finally, if your dishwasher is all encrusted with calcium and hard-water deposits, you probably need to run a dishwasher cleaner in the machine. (Use Dishwasher Magic, or Finish Corp's Dishwasher cleaner, or Glisten, or even Lemi-Shine detergent-booster powder or their dishwasher cleaner.
Hope this helps!

The dial stops at 3 different spots and the machine continues to run until the dial is advanced a little. It does not always stop at the three usual areas but always the first. Is there a way to clean...

The clock motor on the timer is failing to advance through the cycle. If you can hear a hum, you might be able to take the clock motor off the timer and clean it up and lube it.

Glasses int he top rack of my kitchenaid dishwasher don;t get clean. they finish the run spotted and covered in what looks like baked on dirty dishwater. dishes in the lower rack look ok, but the...

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1/4 of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

Spots on dishes, especially silverware

Rinse additives help with the spotting, a lime descaler will help, put it in and run a cycle empty.
There are also several different types of cleaners available for sale at your grocery store.
Check your baskets for rusting, there isn't another reason for that unless your pipes are causing it.

Dishes always come out cloudy ... white cloudy stain on inside of door, etc. We use electrosol power ball cubes. We set wash cycle to normal wash.

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

Dishes have filmy finish

hello. this will help a great deal.

First of all empty out your dishwasher, toss in two cups of plain white or cider vinegar and run it on the highest and longest cycle.

Always run the hot water in the sink first and start the dishwasher only when the water is as hot as it will get.

This wash will clean out your dishwasher thoroughly.

Then always do your dishes after you have rinsed any residue off of them before placing them in the dishwasher and I always recommend the pot scrubber cycle if you have one.
