The extensions require programming from the main control phone. Specifically, 603-604 control how the phones ring in day/night mode.

Actual instructions are beyond the scope of the free forum, but your Panasonic Programming Guide (PG) will help you out. I have one here on my file site.

TD-1232 PBX - is is a programming issue or hardware issue?

ok so the first thing you should do is to get to where your PB X connects to the lines and ensure that there is a standing voltage on the lines. usually 50 v dc in the uk.

check each line has 50 volts with a multimeter when nthey are not active.

if line 3 has no voltage your problem is the line.

if line 3 does have voltage at 50 v idle ring the lines out 1 then 2 then 3 foir a analogue line to present ringing bthe voltage increases and is in cadence with the ringing. if again the voltage does not increase during the ringing cycle then the problemn is again with the line.

if the line 3 has 50 v idle and increase in voltage during ringing, then the problem is the line interface in the PBX

hope that this helps all above is for analogue lines only

MY EXTENSION DOESN'T RING FOR EXTERNAL CALLS ON THE KX-T7433 SYSTEM WE HAVE INSTALLED. HOW CAN I GET IT TO RING FOR INCOMING EXTERNAL CALLS?

JUST AS YOU'RE TOO LAZY TO USE THE SHIFT KEY AND LOSE THE CAPS LOCK KEY, I'M TOO LAZY TO LOOK UP THELINK TO A MANUAL. HOWEVER, I CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU COULD GO TO THE PROGRAMMING MANUAL FOR A PANASONIC KX-TD 816/1232 AND LOOK AT DIL 1:N PROGRAM 603 AND 604. IT'S WHERE YOU SET THE EXTENSIONS THAT RING WHEN A CALL COMES IN.

I have a few KX-T7453s that will not ring. They work and I can hear pages on them and can see the lights blinking when a call comes in. The ringing volume is all the way up though. What am I missing?

Programming. The ring on a TD system is controlled by system programs 603-604 or maybe in 407-408. Exact instructions are contained in the Programming Manual for the TD systems.

Hey if we just purchased the kx t7453 phones from a neighboring business and we had nortel networks what is the main unit i need to run my line back to and how do i go about getting it

The 7453 is a Panasonic digital phone and it works on a TD series box. TD 308/816/1232 systems show up on Ebay for $100-600.

Some of the old digital phones will also work on the TDx series systems, but they take 4x the power of the 76xx/DT series phones.

With refurbished T7324's selling for under $100, it seems like you'd be better off using those.

I currently use a Panasonic KX-T7431 at work and I wnat to either know does it have an answer machine function within the phone or can I buy one to add to it , we cusstenly do not have any faciity for...

Generally, a 7431 phone plugs into a Panasonic KX-TD phone system cabinet. The 1232 starts as an 8 line 16 phone cabinet, the 816 a 4x8, and the 308 a 3x8. To those systems, you can add a TVx Panasonic brand voice mail system, or even a plain old ansering machine. Both would need to be probrammed by someone familiar with ringing and intercept groups in system programming.

A quick call to your Panasonic installer or dealer would be the best, as it's beyond the scope of this forum to provide instructions.

Manual for KX-T7230 User Manual

It's not exactly that easy. Here's a manual for the 816/1232 TD series phones. If you have a TD-308, it has a different manual.

When we installed our kx ta1232 our children were young so it was programed for them not to be able to make or receive phone calls. Now that they are older we want them to be able to make and receive phone...

I think I've stepped into the Twilight Zone. Asked and answered a few days ago, but here's the long answer.

If you don't have a complete set of manuals, go here http://www.public.carl.airpost.net/TA-1232/

At the very least, you need the FEATURES manual and the PROGRAMMING manual. Since you're the only one with programming access to the 1232, you'll have to find out HOW the system was programmed. There are several ways to restrict extensions. The easiest is COS. The FEATURES manual, page 194 describes setting up Toll Restriction. The companion to that is 500-514 which describe how the phones will perform when different COS's are assigned. Program option 601 defines a station class. COS 7&8 are the most restrictive, meaning you can't dial out, and 1 is the most permissive.

Besides COS, a phone has to have lines assigned to it in order to make calls. That could be as simple as mapping the CO's to buttons, or as complex as physically assigning the lines in programming. Button programming starts with a display phone on the extension and using PROGRAM 99 and pressing the buttons to see if they are assigned. 0xx STORE saves CO's to buttons. If they are assigned, they may also be restricted. Those are the 605&606 areas I mentioned in the previous post.

That pretty much covers outgoing calls. Your toll restriction tables reside in 301-305 for restrictions and 306-310 for allow numbers in COS 2-6. Toll tables and ARS plans can take minutes or hours to design, it just depends on the complexity of the situation.

Incoming calls are probably just the ringing assignments in 603&604. Changing each extension from NoRing to Immediate will solve the incoming ring problem.

I think the TA-1232 was sold as a non-restricted DIY system :-)
It's a dumbed-down TD-1232 system. Believe it or not, there's even a DOS based programming tool that you can get. If you get desperate, you might want to contact me at carl@airpost.net for arrangements. You need a system with a serial port and a DB-25 male to whatever your serial port needs cable to program it.

How many stations can a Panasonic D1232 support?

If it says D1232 on the box, it's a TD-1232. Look at the black and silver tag on the side of the KSU, IIRC the TD-1232's tag is on the lower right outside above the power cord. Three is a TA-1232 a TD-1232, and a 123210/11. Only the TD is digital (uses 72xx/74xx phones).

As far as SYSTEM phones, the TA/TD 1232 come out of the box as 8x16 devices and you add cards to expand it. These cards have -70 part numbers and are fairly difficult to find. (I think I have one or two on my shelf). If you really have a 123211, it also expands by using cards, that fit vertically in the card file with an AMP connector plugged into its face. Those are easier to find, the risk there is when you turn off the system to install them, it sometimes forgets to power back up.

Lastly, if you really have a TD with digital phones, there is an ANALOG port on the back of each digital phone that can be wired for seperate extensions (by default it's 100 more than the digital extension). You can add single line devices in those ports.(Some restrictions apply :-). For two quick phones, you might go that route.

Trouble with the display

Hi Mary

Which system are you using?
If you are using panasonic kx td 1232 then just press the * key keeping the handset on hook.

If you are using a panasonic kx tda system then just press the transfer button keeping the handset onhook.

To change the date you will need to goin the program mode by pressing the Program button followed by *# 1234. then it will show on the display sys pgm no : enter 000 and press autodial or enter. Then you can change the date.
