Hi

This is happened due to a thermostat failure on your microwave. You'll need to disassemble it to check for the thermostat. Check for the any sparks or any smoke coming out from any part. Check part#8 in the following schematic--

ran without anything in it - 00fabb8.gif

You can order the thermostat from this link--

However, in rare cases the magnetron will turn bad. Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Exterior of oven , top and both sides gets very hot to touch, when cooking +- 10 minutes or more the last couple of days; no Error ( E41/42/45 or 47 are being displayed. Fan is normal, functions: OK

There could be food or oil buildup around the door frame which will absorb some of the radiant and microwave energy whilst cooking. Give it all a good clean and see if that helps. If everything else is working properly, it may be a problem with the cooling fan. Microwave ovens have a "stirrer fan" inside the roof or rear of the cooking area to disperse the microwaves and some convection / microwave ovens also have a cooling fan which assists in dissipating heat within the cabinet.

Why can't you run a microwave without anything in it? I ran mine for 4 minutes without anything in it and now it won't heat anything.

What was the point of running it empty?. Looks like you, as many users out there, never read instructions for any thing. No offence!
First let me explain what a MICROWAVE does, then you will understand the damaged you have caused to your unit.
A microwave is an electromagnetic wave (radiation) with a wavelength in the range 0.001 to 0.3 shorter than a radio wave but longer than an infrared. They are used in various scenarios; industrial processes, communications and heating.
When these waves enter the food or liquids they are absorbed by their molecules which turns into an increase of the temperature of the items exposed.
If nothing is exposed to absorb these microwaves, they will be reflecting in all the walls of the cooking chamber and eventually entering the grills (of the intake and exhaust vents) damaging the the electronic components exposed to these waves.
Hope that helps!

Burning problem in cooking

Start out with just a few seconds if you are heating something and increase it if it isn't heated through, Sounds like the wattage is high on your unit or you are using too much time. Don't over do it. Just use a few seconds or a few minutes. Don't use the pre-sets if they are burning your food. Just punch in the seconds or minutes yourself until you learn how much time you need for the food you are cooking or heating.

Sharp modelR1381 everything works but will notheat

If it runs and makes normal noise but just no heat, issues is either a loose connector to magnetron or at diode to capacitor. Be careful with capacitor because it stores thousands of volts.

My GE spacemaker microwave doesn't heat up foods. There is a slight bit of heat generated but not much. All timers, lights, etc. work normal. It is a GE model jvm1440. It is about 3 years old. The problem...

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.

Microwave cuts off after heating for about 3-4 minutes

There is a overtemperature device inside that is shuting you down until things cool off. Take the cover off and clean up everything as much as possible. Grease from the cooking can get all over everything inside and collect dust buildup enough to obstruct the airflow and cause overheting.
