Yes it can because it is no different than the power being turned on. Your two speed pump will still work fine

I am replacing a intermatic t101r with a tightwatt timer. the t101r has 5 terminals wired, the tightwatt only has 4

Hello Barbara.
You dont have T101R timer. Because T101 has 3 terminals.
Remember any Intermatic timer can be replaced into the T101 enclosure.
First step, Identify your voltage.
Second step, identify if you are controlling a 2-speed pump.
Third step, identify the Intermatic timer by looking at clock motor and wiring.

T101R timer has 3 terminals, and has WG1570 120Volt clock motor.
T103R timer has 5 terminals and WH1570 120Volt clock motor
T104 timer and T106R timer have 5 terminals and WG1573 240Volt clock motor
Copy following link to help identify your specific wiring.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

Terminal A on Intermatic could be Neutral or Hot depending on what has been done to alter the timer.
Generally the tightwatt timer wires very similar to P1353 timer.

My pump works on low speed but not high speed

these are a bear to work on.. there are start switches inside of the motor, and will break if you even look at them wrong.(fragile) you can try compressed air to blow out the trash that might be in the switch..or unhook power cord of the motor from the motherboard and remove the pump and motor from the spa , bring it to your local pool pump moor repair guy with free testing have it tested. if removing wires from motor YOU MUST REINSTALL THEM EXACTLY AS THEY CAME OFF ! OR YOU WILL BURN UP THE expensive 2 speed motor .. jay Florida

The on/off lever on my t103r has worn down , and the timer dial posts no longer switch it on and off . can i replace that part . thank you , Don Henrichsen / Sherman Oaks , California

I think trippers have worn down.
Tripper are made of softer metal than on-off lever.

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

That being said, if you have gone through several trippers and timer is old, then on-off lever can wear out.
Except for 125V clock motor and on-off trippers, there are no repair parts for T-103.
Buy new T103 and swap mechanisms without changing box.
That way you don't have to buy more expensive T-103R outdoor timer.
Mechanism snaps out with metal spring located at top inside box.

I purchased T-103 last week from Lowes.
Surprised that Lowes carried all 3 T-100 series timers:
T-101 125V with terminals A 1 2
T-103 125V with capability of controlling 120-or-240V circuits with terminals A 1 2 3 4
T-104 240V with terminals A 1 2 3 4
