No headphone playback when recording

Hi,
I am trying to hear (headphone out) what I've recorded in Cubase LE, but am unable to that without exporting the song and then listening to it on Itunes. It won't play out of Cubase. With multiple tracks recording this is essential. What I did record at 88.2 khz, seemed like it had a lot of background noise/hiss. Any ideas?
