Try doing flea power & the power cycle.

1. Disconnect all the peripherals like keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner & monitor and power supply from the CPU.

And press & hold the power button for 2 min, it will release the flea power from the mother board.

Restart the system & check.

2. Disconnect everything.wait for 5-10 minutes and then connect every thing.

Restart the system.

If it does not resolve the issue then you can try this :

Just remove the registry key it happen when this key is corrupted.

And delete all references to the external hard drive.

And also HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

and found the keys associated with the USB to IDE value.

After restarting the system, the drive shold be detected & configured automatically by the computer.

Can you be a bit more elaborative on the second issue.

What is "wollum 0" i cant get it.

Good Luck.

you could disassemble the case and remove the drive. it could then be connect via an external controller such as( and test if the drive itself is good in which case it is the controller in the case.

My PC does not recognise the La Lacie 1tb hard drive therefore I cannot access the data What can I do

First, try it on another computer. If you get the same problem then the USB controller in the Hard drive case may be faulty. You might be able to take the drive out and use another USB to PATASATA converter. These are available on the internet and in computer shops but you need to check the type of drive inside the case (IDE or SATA) before you buy one.

I have 500GB transcend Portabale hard drive but not working, need installation driver or some thing other ?

External hard drives connected to the USB port do not require any additional drivers for WIN XP, Vista or Win 7. If it is not being recognised at all then the USB converter inside the box is faulty. If the PC recognises the USB converter but not the hard drive then the hard drive may be faulty.

Computer recognises usb connection briefly and then drops it. computer never sees hard drive

This generally means you have a failed USB controller board or a failed drive inside the enclosure.

Try removing the hard drive from the shell and transferring it into a new external enclosure. If this works you're done, if not the fault is in the drive. I can offer you some advice on DIY methods or direct you to a professional lab near you if you provide your location.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Exterior hard drive not recognise by the computer

The device used to interface the hard drive to the computer must be compatible with the USB port in the computer. (If our machine has only USB 1 ports but the device needs USB 2 or 3 then it won't function). If the ports are correct, connect up the drive to the computer and then power off the computer and power it back on. Older BIOS's will find the drive during startup and you will then see it as one of your devices.
