I have a similar problem. I'll try to give some extra detail for my situation. I'm using a Hitachi 4G microdrive if that's of importance. Loading this pics in, they almost all import just fine. However, there's always a few that look like they have been cut right in half (horizontally), and then they are lined up so they don't match. One half is completely "shifted" to one side or the other, and it's sort of "blacked out." You can see the image, but it's "clouded over" or something. I've imported into Picassa with this problem, and also the Canon software. I can go back, and sometimes it will re-do it properly, but it's a pain and completely unacceptable. Is it the drive? No. I can remove the drive, put it in my Flash Reader on the computer and it sees the pics just fine, imports them fine, etc. I then have to find out which pics were corrupted from the camera and replace them. What gives, and what's the fix? I'm not the only one with this problem.

Some more details... It seems to be at random... I took a series of three pictures. Every single time I downloaded them, there was one that was "split," and there they are tinted. Sometimes green, sometimes red. It is as though you took a 20 story building and "shifted" the top or bottom over a few inches. It is NOT the camera, it is not "pins" it is not a lens... I'll import the pictures again, and then the one that was "skewed" before is perfectly fine. So the camera captured it, and the quality is good. It's somehow a transfer problem.

I have a similar problem with my Canon EOS 350D.

Pictures look fine on the camera LCD screen.

When you upload to computer, some pictures have a line (or two) across,
below which the image is sometimes shifted slightly and sometimes
    tinted.

The line(s) is in random positions.

When you re-upload the images sometimes they come out unaffected, or affected in different parts of the image

I have tried a different CF card with images taken on the other camera
and the problem is the same when transferring from my EOS350D.

I have tried a different USB cable and the problem is the same. I'm
going to try a card reader to see if that transfers them OK.

Your CF card is corrupting the data. Replace the card for a good quality card

Date on pictures taken and movie shooting on canon eos 400d

The EOS Digital Rebel, EOS Digital Rebel XT and EOS Digital Rebel XTi do not support stamping the date and time on the image.

It is not possible to record the date and time as part of the image at the time the picture is taken. However, the date and time is captured in the EXIF information of the image at the point of capture. It is possible to print the image with the date and time via printing software. Please see the documentation for the software package that you use for printing images for the proper procedure.

I have just got EOS 400 D CANON DIGITAL CAMERA.

If you're talking about seeing the image prior to taking the picture, like on most point and shoot digital cameras, that is NOT a function available on the Digital Rebel, XT, or XTI.
