I have a Gas Amana Range. The stove top works fine, but the oven will not heat when I select a temperature or broil. I can hear it making noise, but still no heat!

Hi.

If the oven is not baking or broiling test the temperature probe sensor located inside the oven cavity. To test the sensor read impedance (Ohms) using a multimeter. If the reading is infinity, then the sensor must be replaced.

If sensor is OK, the problem is usually either broiling or baking. In that case check igniter and valve coils, the flame sensor does not fail very often.

Regards.

My husbad had sent out an email of our problem that we are having with our range. I am not seeing that there was a response. Is it possible for someone to assist us? I turn on my oven but it does not heat...

Hello Kim....Usually when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself. The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame. Other reasons that your oven may not bake are: The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven). The thermostat is defective. The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective. The selector switch is defective. That said, if you want to see excellent diagrams of all of the parts of your stove, go to searspartsdirect.com Enter the model number and these diagrams will appear for your use. You can also order parts from that site, although your local appliance parts store may be less expensive. Joe Thanks for choosing Fixya!

This is a gas oven (self cleaning) and the oven part will not heat up. is there a pilot on the oven part of the oven as well as the top part. the top part of the oven will light but the oven won't heat up

There is a electronic igniter. There is on for the bake mode and one for broil.Just do a google search of apliance parts and you will find several places to view the part and some will have parts diagram. Most of the igniters are ceramic and only takes a hair line crack for them to quit working.

How to light pilot for oven in 1950's roper delux

If it is an insta-light, I just rebuilt a Roper that age, the instructions are to turn off oven heat control, wait two minutes, locate red button which you have done, apply match to pilot, depress red button for 5 seconds and that should keep pilot light on, the instruction manual states to hold match for 60 seconds prior to pushing button, then hold for 5 seconds, either way, you don't want to flood the area with raw gas, and yet still apply enough heat long enough to lock in pilot, has the gas line been loose? Make sure it is purged of air, again, don't flood area with raw gas, it is pretty typical pilot procedure, the worst part is finding the red button, usually behind a burner cover. So try holding the button a bit longer with your match on it, some take a while, worst is the control has gone bad, but there are replacement valves for this vintage, I did check,

The oven is not getting hot

Check the valve in the back under the broiler. You can put a volt meter on it and see what you are getting. If it is not opening properly that could be bad. The other thing could be that the valve on the knob is bad and then that needs to be replaced both can be checked with a volt meter.
If you are happy with my hlp please rate. Thank you

Amana agr5735qds oven will not light.  broiler works as do all the burners.

There are two igniters in your oven one for bake and one for broil. The bake igniter very likely needs to be replaced. Igniter part number is 70080764.
