I have an option to get the Dell W4201CHD Plasma tv for $100. However, They say that it will not power up. Does any one know how to go about fixing it or the price range it would cost to get it fixed at a repair shop? Would it be worth it to acquire this? I am unemployed with a baby at home and do not want to spend that much money. Thanks

Re: I have an option to get the Dell W4201CHD Plasma tv...
If the tv doesn't power up then the fault is big. Even if it's only in the power source if you don't have a god experience in electronics it will cost you over $250 to call a repairman to fix it for you.
This was sold for parts, it's not for you.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Take it back to the place you bought it from they will most likely fix it if you have a warranty. Thats your only choice if you want it fixed unless if you wanna pay a hundred bucks to get a 3rd party lcd put in it haha.
I will be posting a new and more detailed blog entry one of the coming days...but this one should work..it's a bit beyond the starting point, but should still do nonetheless.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. We do repair the Y sustain boards and we've fixed a number of buffer boards before arriving to the conclusion that it is indeed best to replace the buffers with new ones. The bad news is they are expensive!
If the TV is under warranty, give them hell. Shouldn't pay more than the TV is worth for shipping, any less a dime.
If not under warranty, best to have a TV tech to come to your home to diagnose the problem. Depending on where you live, independent TV repair shop will charge about $100 for the diagnoses service. Common things that go bad for plasma TVs is the Power Supply Board or the Y buffer/main parts. Basically, cheaper to have someone come to you.
It should be easy enough for a Novice to fix.
Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route. If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

OK, you need to replace the Power Supply Board. It is made by Samsung the number on the board will be LJ44-00110A. The Replacement number is LJ44-00019A,the cost is $349.00,however this part also crosses to a Phillips number 99500042146 which sells for $289.00 these are all the same board.I use the Phillips Board. Most repair shops will not do any research to locate these boards due to time and volume of repairs the have to deal with. Most call Dell and they won't give out repair info. They require it to be sent in.The Phillips board can be purchased from any NAP distributor.
