I need directions on how to replace my ink cartridge on a HP officejet v40. My husband purchased this printer, but I don't know when, and he has since passed away. The support on the phone wouldn't help me because I didn't know how old the printer is.

Hi, normally when you open the printer the ink cartridges will go to the centre and you can unclick the cartridges to replace them. On some printers you need to press a button which brings the cartridges to the centre so you can replace the cartridges.

Hp officejet v40 won't recognize new cartridge

Hello,

Your printer may need to be reset.

* Turn on your printer and re-install the old empty printer cartridges

* Wait for the printer to finish its cycle for recognizing the printer cartridge.

* Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.

* Clean your printer head and the electrical connections of the new printer cartridge. Be careful if you have already tried to install this prior since the ink may run.

* Plug back the printer into the power source and turn on the printer.

* After the printer has warmed up, do the normal process of installing your new printer cartridge.

If this doesn't work, it could be that the printer cartridge is faulty. Take the printer cartridge, its box and the receipt to the office supplies store or computer store where you purchased this and ask for a replacement, explaining the problem.

I hope this helps.

Need help: our HP officejet v40 will not print.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Hp officejet v40. new cartridge but missing blue when printing

Sounds like your cyan print head is clogged. You can try to get it flowing yourself by rubbing the print head with a wet paper towel. If you press the print head on a dry paper towel you should see three distinct lines of color. If you still don't see the cyan, try letting the print head rest on the wet paper towel on a surface that ink can be cleaned up from or one you don't care about staining. If the cyan still won't flow, you should go back to where you purchased it and return it for a new one.

I just installed a new black ink. The error message keeps on saying wrong color cartridge installed. I replaced with the correct one for my officejet v40. Black 15.

did you try changing the color cartridge too? I had problems with ink cartridges that were not HP cartridges.( not made by HP but some other co.)

HP OfficeJet V40 Won't Print

You Need to change the Ink Carttridge. it has either Dried from lack of use or you have run ou tof ink.

you may need to clean the Jets as well a simple Q-tip with some rubing alchol would work.

You could also try the Printers Cleaning Utility, but either way you'll need to replace the cartridges
