The whistling is caused by the power source that is overstressed by a short - a big part inside it has failed. The tv must be opened and the parts tested by a pro. Call one, there's nothing else you can do.

Our Mitsubishi wd-65833 tv turns on and makes a whistling sound like it is powering up-then the red lamp light comes on and it makes the whistling sound in reverse (kind of like the sound of a bomb...

This mechanical whining sound is typical of what is know as a color wheel fault. Color wheels are mechanical color disk that spins. generally if they do not reach a certain speed the set will shut down. It is a moving part and anthing that moves will eventally not move. other possiblilites might be cooling fans if they shut down then the lamp will shut down. to determine which a technician will need to remove the back and isolate where the sound is coming from.

Whistling when TV is switched on. LG LCD 32''

If the sound is coming from the back of the TV, then the issue is with the power supply and may get worse causing the TV not to power on.

If the sound is coming from the speakers, then the issue may be with the main board, an audio hookup to the TV, and or a bad ground loop with the TV and the connections to it.

My sceen and sound have stopped working. just black.

If you get a LED light that comes on or an blinking error code, then most likely it will be main board. It could also be the power supply or panel depending on the error code (number of blinks).

If the TV is completely dead (no blinks or standby light) the power supply board needs to be changed.

I think maybe the G-board needs to be replaced. A TV shop will have to repair it. They normally start around $200.00

Continuous low whistling or thin buzzing noise

The high pitched sound is an indication that theres a short most likly in the Hi voltage sweep section or power supply and with out the proper training you should not even take off the back as there are no user replaceable parts inside of these sets. All the parts are soldered in and you can not look at them and see that they are bad.. its almost like when your check engine light comes on you look but what do you see without a computer to read the on board computer vto see what the problem(s) are. Take the set into or call a pro to assist you with this repair. good luck
